Inflammatory Pseudo Tumor

Good Evening. I’ve been posting from time to time about my experience with diagnosing a liver lesion found in my right lobe. I’ve had all kinds of blood tests, MRI with and without contrast, liver biopsy - and I’ve seen infectious disease and rheumatologist. The thought now is that it could be an inflammatory pseudo tumor. Has anyone gotten this diagnosis? If so, please share your path to it.

Hi Tearose, I am sorry to hear about your recent troubles with Inflammatory Pseudo Tumor. I have added your discussion to both the neuroendocrine tumor group and the autoimmune group to see if a discussion can be started regarding this diagnosis and any suggestions that may come up. I know @dawn_giacabazi has had tumor related issues. Perhaps she can share her story. Tearose, how long have you been showing signs of symptoms?

Hi Tearose, I am sorry to hear about your recent troubles with Inflammatory Pseudo Tumor. Good Evening. I’ve been away for a while. I recently lost my sister and have been dealing with that. I am still seeking answers. I had second liver biopsy yesterday. This time they are checking for biliary cancer as well as liver cancer. They are also checking for infectious disease. I’m nearly a year in since the lesion was discovered and am extremely sad to not be any closer to knowing what’s happening with my liver. In addition, I am running low grade fever today - 100.5. Wondering if anyone else has had low grade fever post biopsy. Thank you.

Hello @tearose! I appreciate you posting an update. First, please accept my condolences on the death of your sister. I'm sorry that you lost this important relationship. I'm sure that you were close.

I'm really sorry to hear that you are nowhere closer to having an answer or treatment plan for this very uncomfortable situation. As a patient myself, and not a medical professional, I would encourage you to get a second opinion. If you are near a multi-disciplinary medical center (like a university medical school or a facility like Mayo Clinic) I would go there for a second opinion.

Medical centers like the ones I named tend to have more research at their fingertips and are good places to go for treatment and diagnosis of hard-to-treat problems.

I'm wondering if you have contacted the doctor who performed the biopsy to see if a fever is normal in your situation? If not, please do so today. Call and leave a message for the doctor or talk with his nurse or PA and let them know about the low-grade fever, just to be sure it is normal after a biopsy.

I look forward to hearing from you again. Will you post another update and let me know how you are doing?

@tearose Im sorry that you’re having such a difficult time finding out what’s going on. The following site has information from the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association that I found because getting a diagnosis isn’t easy. I know, first hand
