Non-Prescription Pain Relief

Posted by suzanne2 @suzanne2, Aug 16, 2020

There is always a lot of discussion about pain relief using prescription medication but I would like to know if there is anything anyone has found over the counter that really works on pain. I guess I am talking more about muscle pain, or as I have fibromyalgia pain. I just went through a difficult weekend and I have no prescription medication to turn to. If anyone has something they have found that is nonprescription and has helped them I would appreciate their sharing.

@annek1965, Good afternoon. Maybe I can help. You have received a private message from @lorirenee. All you have to do is click on the icon next to your photo that looks like an envelope. That will lead you to your private message area. To read @lorirenee1's message....just click on her log on. It should be right in front of you. If not....let us known again and we will help.

@annek1965 @Chris Trout I did recheck my messages to people, and yes, I did send @annek1965 a private message. Annek, I am telling you about an herbal product that is not approved by the FDA, and moderators here would prefer I only send private messages about it. I hope you have received my message, as the herbal product is the only thing that helps me with severe nerve pain. I am not sure how to help to have you see my message. I don't know what to do!!!!! As well as taking Tramadol and having pt, I'm seeing a chiropractor and taking Hemp gummy bears, which seem to take the edge off the pain.

Thank you for responding to me. I take Tramadol, no physical therapy. I don't know if I am allowed to ask the brand of Hemp gummy bears, I just don't trust anyone without a recommendation. Not sure if you saw my previous posts. I have a Veriflex implant and it either moved or broke. Went for a cat scan on
Thursday, waiting to hear from my doctor.
Thank you again for your note.

Hi @summertime4, I saw your post in another discussion that @hopeful33250 thought would be seen by more members with neuropathy or chronic pain if it were asked in another discussion like this discussion -- Non-Prescription Pain Relief in the Chronic Pain group.

Your question -- Has anyone been prescribed and used Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel for neuropathy in the feet. The pain on the top of my left foot, ankle and toes gets me really down. I have other topicals that help, but the doctor thought this would work better. I know they have this over the counter, but mine is a prescription, I am on several medications and concern myself with an interaction. Is anyone familiar with this?

My primary care doctor prescribed the Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel for pain I was having in my right knee before I had my knee replacement. I think the good news is that it's now available without a prescription. From the FDA link below..."Feb 14, 2020 - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved three drugs for ... (OTC), use through a process called a prescription (Rx)-to-OTC switch. The FDA approved Voltaren Arthritis Pain (diclofenac sodium topical gel, 1%) ...FDA Approves Three Drugs for Nonprescription Use Through: https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-approves-three-drugs-nonprescription-use-through-rx-otc-switch-process

It did help the pain in my knee some but not for long periods of time. I never tried it for neuropathy pain but maybe other members can share their experience with Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel for neuropathy in the feet.

I use Diclofenac gel, prescription strength all the time. It is a lifesaver for pain due to inflammation, sore muscles, joint pain. It’s a life saver for me.
