Tested negative and then positive

Posted by Tina Sims @tinaesims, Aug 12, 2020

I think I need a little support right now. I've been on the big 3 for about a year. I tested negative about 5 months ago. I thought I'd be off meds soon. I just tested positive again. How does this happen? I need to retest the first week of September and if I test positive, my pulmonologist wants to start me on meds every day. They are now doing a sensitivity test too. The only sign I have had is that when I drink frozen drinks I cough. I know that's odd, but it was always a sign that something was going on. Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. Lots of med interactions with my synthroid and statins too. Any insights?

Hi Tina. I am sorry that you got a positive result. Be sure to ask how colonized it is. Also, ask your dr if they are cuurant on knowledge of newer meds like nebulized arikayce combined with glatiramer-acetate, tobramycin, or biocidin, there are others on the list also. Are you nebulizing 7% saline twice a day?

Tina, hugs girlfriend. This journey is never easy, but you will get there.

@tinaesims Hi Tina, I also took the big three for one year and then I think I tested positive like 6 months later also. Don't get discouraged. I just did the 7% saline solution and I swear when some bug comes back it's because I had gotten lazy with the saline. Mine has come and gone, come and gone and it all started back in 2016. It's gone again but I believe it's when I kick the saline back up to twice a day. I exercise, too, five days a week and try to eat right except for the chocolate. ( I have a terrible sweet tooth.) I am. I have been since the beginning of this journey. He is pretty up on things so I'm pretty sure he knows about the newer drugs. He talked about switching me when my thyroid went nuts and then it went stable again.

Thanks Nan. I use the saline but will admit I wasn't really breathing in heavy. I was being lazy. I'm going to kick in again. I too exercise at least 5 days a week and my blood sugars were high so I'm really concentrating on my diet again. I never did lose weight like others!
