Bad news

Well I was at Costco today mainly to buy water and a pie because I saw a post that John,
@johnnishop was talking about on the Neuropathy section. I haven’t been thinking of anything else except getting a pie at Costco but they only sell pies from September to December. The lady said they ended up throwing them all out. I told her she should’ve giving me a call. But that’s not the point of my story
I was doing fine for about 10 minutes then the back of my neck started hurting really bad and I felt weak I didn’t think I could make it back out to my car. On my way home I had double vision which I occasionally have. I stopped at my neurologist office which was a mistake and I saw him and he believes that I had a focal aware seizure in Costco. Although I suppose that is possible I don’t really believe that’s what happened. After 13,000+ seizures I pretty much know when I have a seizure not Tonic-Clonic seizures but focal seizures pretty much for sure, Especially Focal Aware seizures. He wouldn’t let me drive home. Now I’m wondering if he’s going to yank my drivers license again. I just paid $3100 to get my car fixed and I’m certainly not gonna let it just sit again and deteriorate. He can’t prove I had a seizure and I can’t prove that I didn’t and of course the motor vehicle department is going to believe him over me. So now I have to find a rheumatologist and see if there’s arthritis in my neck and if it could’ve possibly caused the issue at Costco. The symptoms that I had at Costco could have certainly been a seizure manifestation.
I was going to ask him for an EEG to see if there was any focal activity but that would only give him more ammunition to prove his case.
I imagine he will yank my license again but whatever happens will happen, no need to stress about it.

Sounds like you have made an independent life for yourself. If I lived in a city I would most likely use a bus. Did when I lived in Montreal.

Today I am more convinced than ever I didn’t have a seizure yesterday at Costco.
Today I am very dizzy and can hardly walk. used my cane to walk out to the car to take some grocery bags out and I fell down four times And staggered all over the place. My neighbor came over and asked me what was wrong I wish I had known what to tell him but he took my bags and put them in the car and helped me back into the house and here I sit. Anybody ever have similar symptoms? If so what did you do about it or what did the doctor say it might be. If it is any type of epilepsy it must be nonconvulsive status epilepticus which I don’t think is really likely. In 13,000 seizures I have never had these symptoms ever before which of course doesn’t mean it’s not possible now but I still think it’s unlikely.

Sorry about the continued problems. Could be any number of things. Vertigo, inner ear infection, a bug of some kind, sugar problems....my husband is a diabetic, l have low blood sugar, carry glucose tabs all the time. Low or high blood glucose levels can give you quite a scare.

I agree about going to the neurologist probably not the smartest move on my part. All of the rheumatologists I’ve gone to have passed on or retired so tomorrow morning I’ll have to start that search. Even if it was a seizure it was just an aura (Focal Aware seizure) no biggie.

I certainly have made an independent way of life for myselkf! I lived in a rural area in Pennsylvania. I needed my independence and I lived too close to my mother to get any. Twenty two years ago I moved to the city of Baltimore all on my own for the sake of independence and other factors. Now I have a new life and I can utilize my independence in many ways. MY WAY

Hi Jake, just read your text. This really worries me... Hope you are feeling better & I hope you went to see the doctor. May not be epilepsy related. Thinking about you will lift you up..

Hi, Jake,
I am so sorry that all this happened. Epilepsy is a drag. Thinking of you with positive thoughts.

Thank you
I’m getting a bit worried about it too. I fell down at least 11 times today and haven’t been up very much at all I don’t mind the falling down but the only tragedy was I broke two candy dishes. People familiar with me know that’s the worst disaster that could ever happen although I was able to rescue the candy, what a relief, so it wasn’t a total loss. One day I fell outside and a neighbor came over and help me back in the house but today nobody saw me and I didn’t I couldn’t get up so I crawled in on my hands and knees. There is a type of epilepsy associated with Epilepsy, also dizziness can be a precursor of a seizure but I don’t think that’s happening but who knows. It doesn’t seem reasonable to me since it goes on for days that it’s some type of seizure activity unless it’s Nonconvulsive Status Epilepticus which I never had. I’ve only had convulsive status.
Oh well maybe I’ll just let the doctors guess what what it might be. My kidney doc wants a ct Thursday. With all these test everybody’s been ordering I feel like I have Munchhausen syndrome, lol.

Thank you for your positive thoughts. I don’t really care what it might be I just don’t want it to be a reoccurrence of epilepsy. Like you say it is indeed a drag!!!

I was just wondering if it could have been another episode of Episodic ataxia which I had once before but then I was only able to walk around in a circle always going to the left. Had no balance problem then. Not much protein I suppose in guessing what it could be although doctors often don’t know for sure either so you never know when they know or when they’re guessing. I suppose the important thing is that it happened and now it’s better.

Jake.

This occurrence has been very upsetting to you. You are letting it bother you too much! You must think more positive and calm down.
We must realize things happen in lfe, they happen. You have no control over what has occurred. Things will eventually change for the better. We must have patience.
See a rheumatologist to rule things out.

Take care,
Laurie
