10 years frothy sputum no cough mold exposure

Posted by jennifermims @jennifermims, Jun 19, 2020

I have the weirdest symptoms and they have lasted 10 years. I get bubbles constantly in my mouth. They are clear. I also get tingling sensations which feel like they are related to the bubbles. They even come out of my eyes and ears. I went to an upper gi doctor who found Barrett's esophagus. The bubbles have slowly, very slowly improved following a gerd diet. They are tingly and I suspect they are acid coming from my intestine. They are absolutely miserable. I have no pain or cough, just constant bubbles. They are clear. And somewhat sticky when popped which is a constant. I did live with mold for many years. It has been remediated and I won my lawsuit as it was caused by my landlord.
If anyone has an idea as to what is happening I certainly will appreciate it.

Hi @jennifermims, welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I added your question to the Lung Health group as well as the Digestive Health group. Mucus is produced by the gastrointestinal tract (gut) but also the upper respiratory tract (nose, mouth, and throat) and the lungs and nearby lower respiratory tract airways. Mucus from the lungs is often referred to a phlegm and plays a crucial role in preventing germs and materials from entering the airways and lungs and potentially causing an infection.

Do you have lung issues? Have you explored pulmonary causes or is it clear that this is a digestive tract issue? Does certain activities or foods increase the amount of sputum?

@jennifermims- Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I had to google your symptoms to see what I could find. I hate having symptoms for anything but something strange "weird" makes it scary. Firstly I am wondering if you have any underlying auto-immune diseases? What tests and types of doctors have you seen for this?

I attribute this to the mold. I also have fungus in 2 toenails, developed after mold began 10 years ago. I am taking NailClear and using the liquid form to paint my nails. The fungus is half way gone. At first I thought it was neuropathy but the severe tingling and numbness has greatly abated. I've seen a neurologist who said it wasn't that bad. I am a dancer and very strong dancing 2 to 3 hours nonstop. I also had very small bumps between my toes which have gone away since I started the fungus medicines distributed by Life Naturals. It feels like tingling throughout my whole body, but not severe, just like being touched by butterflies. I also have gurgling in my stomach and lots of gas. I'm also dealing with the Barrett's esophagus which is another issue, other than fungus throughout my whole body. I am taking raw kombucha, kefir, a protein shake loaded with prebiotics, probiotics and prebiotics from Dr. Gundry and Microbiome. I am also taking Oregano Oil. I have absolutely no pain. I have never been diagnosed with autoimmune disease and wouldn't know what its symptoms even are.
Thank you so much for your reply. Hopefully after reading this post you'll have a clearer understanding of what my symptoms indicate.

@jennifermims Very interesting. I do not claim to diagnose, but I have learned much over the years. I would guess this way: You have, at some time, practiced dance with either barefoot or just socks or slippers and picked up a fungus of some sort. Or, there are forms of AI (Gelsolin is one) which develop a variety of skin issues, including molds, along with Barrett's, and a bunch of other stuff. There are beginning to be developed some treatments to slow down the diseases of these, including one that is simple and cheap, Methotrexate injections in high doses (.80 ml weekly). That is what I take and it works wonders for me. Also, you might try high alcohol hand sterilizer on your feet. I have, and it has wiped out my fungus on my feet. Also, have an MRI done on your heart. You probably have "Athlete's Heart", or cardiomegaly, thickened heart ventricle/atrial walls. Mayo has some good pictures of this, as does http://www.onclive.com But keep dancing!

No I have no lung issues just from my digestive tract and having mold in my apartment and fungus under my toenails. I've researched and discovered that the types of mold i had can cause fungus under the toenails. I have constant bubbles that tingle and fill my mouth. If I don't wipe my mouth or chew gum it comes out of my mouth in bubbles and drips down. I have tingling throughout my body especially in my feet. This has gotten better since I've been using NailClear and take a lot of pro, pre and post biotics. Life is miserable.

@jennifermims - I can only contribute with advice on your fungus. Tea tree oil works very well in controlling foot fungus. I use it on the nails that are affected too. I don’t really want to take the oral antifungal medication.
I’m sorry I don’t have any thoughts on the mucous I will be thinking of it though.

Thank you so much. I use an internal medicine to help rid my body from fungus. This could be what hurt my intestines. When fungus enters a person's system it can do so much damage. Just getting rid of the fungus under the toenails isn't enough. I take the capsules 1x per day. I've been on it now for about 4 or 5 months. My nails are about 1/2 way there which shows me I'm doing something right.
