Cov19 at retirement party: Are you avoiding social gatherings?

Posted by Funcountess @funcountess, May 12, 2020

No parties for me. Was invited to a retirement party. Told the hostess it was no time for a party. I did not go, good thing because one of the guests was not showing signs of cov19, but did infect 3 other people at the party.
Now the person who retired is in the hospital with the virus, as well as the other 2.
Too dangerous for social gatherings, anyone out there with social gatherings in the future I suggest they rethink their plans.
Stay well,
Funcountess

Lioness, you do not buy tombows in the grocery store. Only in art supply stores.
Are you getting all your groceries you ordered?
No such luck in my neck of the woods.

I only go out when necessary but the “men” in my family just think all these precautions need to be done.....I just don’t get why they can’t understand but at least my one man, my husband, is doing pretty well in following guidelines for me. They both work in the community. Our country, I’m afraid, is going to pay a huge human toll by the time this whole thing finally concludes due to our lack of tolerance for patience and compassion for humanity.

Hi migizii,
Men can and are more restless then women. Viruses/illness know no boundary.
I don’t know what it takes for people to get SCARED STRAIGHT. Maybe if somebody your husband knows becomes ill, he will have a change in attitude.
About all you can do, is keep surfaces clean. Do not forget door knobs, light switches anything that is handled by more then one person, that includes refrigerator handles.
By the way what country are you in? England??

Hi,
No Target near me, must drive a distance, so do not visit Target often.
How many in your exercise class? Remember social distancing, and face coverings.
This cov19 is going to stick around for a loooong Time. I think we are all sitting ducks with this virus.
Is everyone o.k. In your building?
I’m keeping busy cleaning up the roses, and getting the ceramic pots ready for new plants.
I like color. This raised bed planting sounds like a good idea, need to look into it.
What happened with your new printer. Is it working?
Take care

Hi migizii,
Listened to the national news, it was said Arkansas,Iowa,Missouri, Nebraska, and Wyoming were planning to relax cov19 restrictions next week. Don’t know if you live in one of those states, but the governors feel they have everything under control.
If there is a rise in cases/deaths, you are right to feel insecure. Best you can do is stay home, and monitor the situation. Florida was lax in tightening restrictions also, and that state has a very high senior population.i hope your husband is starting to get the message this is one virus you do not want to play around with.
As for elected officials I don’t know what goes thru their heads. It could be economic pressure to open up their states.
One thing your husband can do when he gets home is wash his hands thoroughly. Also change clothes. Like I mentioned in a former post is to keep common surfaces clean.
Also mentioned men tend to be more restless.
Stay well.

@migizii, @funcountess and @lioness, Lioness, I wish I lived in CA right now! Your gov. is being much more cautious and public health concerned. Our TX gov. lifted our "stay home" order on May 1st after only 2 weeks of the order. TX had Not met the federal guidelines for re-opening. Beauty shops, inside restaurant dining...the works and unsusrprisingly, the numbers of covid infections are spiking like wildfire.
All medical specialists had already either cancelled or rescheduled my labs or appt's. I'm feeling great resentment that this premature reopening will have me extending even farther the appointments needed. Each will have to make decisions based on individual circumstances but I'll not be venturing out of self-imposed isolation for some time.
