Cov19 at retirement party: Are you avoiding social gatherings?

Posted by Funcountess @funcountess, May 12, 2020

No parties for me. Was invited to a retirement party. Told the hostess it was no time for a party. I did not go, good thing because one of the guests was not showing signs of cov19, but did infect 3 other people at the party.
Now the person who retired is in the hospital with the virus, as well as the other 2.
Too dangerous for social gatherings, anyone out there with social gatherings in the future I suggest they rethink their plans.
Stay well,

I could not agree more. Skipped a family party a few days ago, even though it was referred to as a "social distancing" party. Why tempt fate? I saw no masks being worn in the pictures of the party, and insufficient spacing being observed. I am hoping to hear that nobody got sick.

@funcountess I so agree with you . My son told me Mom dont go out even things are opening up for at least 6 weeks that alright with me . I may not go out for 2-3 more months . Not worth it . Look at what happened to that retirement party .

I agree with your son, better to stay home, even if your building starts activities, best not to go, because you do not know where everybody in the group has been.
Even with vaccines in the pipelines, it’s still iffy.
Did you ever buy the Tombows?

Because I’m a retired bacteriologist,I still get virus medical information. Thought I would share this with all of you.
There was choir practice in a church in WASHINGTON STATE IN MARCH 2020. 61 people came for choir practice 1pwraon has cov19 that person infected 87% of the choir. Only 8 people did not get sick.
No other info. Was given. Do not know name of church. This disease has no limits.
My personal opinion is this virus will be added To the long list of pathogens out there.
Sad time for the world.

@funcountess, I moved your message to this discussion you started about being prudent about social gatherings. You're quite right that people, especially those with compromised immune systems and other health risk factors, need to be careful as we consider the slow return to former activities.

@funcountess.. We hear everyday that big parties, gatherings and so on are spreading the virus, why are people still not getting it? It's so frustrating. I saw on TV that there was a party of almost 1000 people somewhere. There was a bar down the coast where they were opened and they ran out of food because they were packed, all against our Governor's order. I want life to get back to normal and I am mad as h*ll these people are doing this. I've been in solitary confinement for 2 months now. Ugh!!

Lioness, you do not buy tombows in the grocery store. Only in art supply stores.
Are you getting all your groceries you ordered?
No such luck in my neck of the woods.
