Non Specific chronic Inflamation of the Colon

Posted by lotsofpain @lotsofpain, Apr 22, 2020

Following a recent colonoscopy investigation nothing major was found other than Non Specific chronic Inflamation of the Colon. My GP says nothing to do about it no medicine changes and just live with the pain. But so its not ulcerative colitus or chrohns what is causing the inflamation

It could be your diet or even medicines. Keep a pain diary for several months of everything you eat or drink, and medicines you take. you can research medicinal side effects too and see if they cause any colon problems. Some foods like sugary items, anything with caffine )coffee, some teas, soda, chocolate can cause or worsen inflammation.

@lotsofpain - @airey2 mentioned some reasons why you have chronic inflammation. Certain medications and foods can cause it. I went through similar evaluation at Mayo after years of pain. I had to remove certain medications and foods- not at the same time- to see if if something triggered the pain.
I don’t agree with your doctor that you have to live with your pain. At this point you should see a gastroenterologist. Have you had any lab work?

I had a colonoscopy which identified chronic non specific inflammation. the Gastroenterologist said he has taken me off the urgent pathway and because of the virus pandemic he cannot see me in clinic and my gp should refer back in due course if needs be

@lotsofpain- That makes perfect sense! You will still be evaluated. I hope something will be found that irritates your colon. Have you ever been given meds for inflammation? Hang in there!

yes I have been on colofac for years an d sometimes buscopan. it is confused by the fact that I have severe hip problems on the same side as the pain and lack of activity due to covid 19 and also immobility from hip encourages comstipation

No matter how much I drink fluids and eat a balanded diet i still have difficulty passing stools. I wonder if my colon has become laxy. I am loathe to go for laxatives other than occasionally so i do not know what to do

@lotsofpain I merged your discussion about ongoing problems with your colon in to your previous discussion started on Non Specific chronic Inflammation of the Colon so that you could reconnect with the members in that discussion.

Being specific helps bring people into the conversation, can you share with me a little more about what you have done to reduce inflammation and discomfort? Have you sought a second opinion or the care of a gastroenterologist?
