Words to comfort all of us at this terrible time

Posted by lioness @lioness, Mar 24, 2020

I often turn to words for solace in distressing times. I find comfort in poems, sayings, words of wisdom from great leaders, scriptures and more. Will you share your favorite passages with all of us here at your Connect family?

I have turned to my pet animals for comfort at this time and they do appreciate so it helps some for all of us. Also I have started to change the arrangement of the furniture, pictures and whatever to keep busy and it does help. I am sure some of us others will come up with more suggestions including music, etc.

To keep busy during this stressful corona19 time, been busy sorting clothes, and cleaning out closets. Also grooming my large poodle, what a chore that is.
My home was hit with the Wolsey canyon fire, so not much can be done with most of the interior of my home, until the contractors finish, and that will not happen until this outbreak is controlled.

I’m going to bake bread. I make vegan soups I love and even some canned fruits. I didn’t panic ever. I’m out of tp, but I have wipes, washcloths and a shower. I can get clean. I found bananas the day I picked up a prescription. Delicious and full of potassium.

A good friend of mine is Noah benShea. He is a philosopher, poet, a man of words. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from him:
1. “A blush of breeze rose from the grass. Jacob felt as if an angel's wing had beat against his cheek. He touched his cheek slowly. He felt embarrassed by the thought.
"That I should think an angel came to me."
He wept. And, again, the brush of breeze against his cheek.”
― Noah Benshea, Jacob the Baker: Gentle Wisdom For a Complicated World
2. “The details make life holy. If you want a little happiness in life don’t forget to look at the little things. It is a poet’s work to see the incidental, pluck it, place an appropriate silence around both sides and see the profound in what passes for a passing moment. It is an artist’s job to as much discover art as create it. Prayer is a way of making the common profound by pausing, tying knots around a moment, turning our life into a string of pearls.”

I hadn’t heard his words before but I like what he said.

I was outside most of today. Saw, from afar some old friends who, too came out in the sun. Hearts on all my windows!
