Lab work: Should I get it done as scheduled?

@noiamnot, most non-essential medical appointments are being postponed. Please call your doctor and ask if you can safely postpone getting the lab work done. If you need to go to the lab, call ahead and find out what protocols they have put in place. Ask if they are scheduling appointments to ensure social distancing or if there are off-peak times you can come. But first call your prescribing doctor.

I think you should call your doctor's office and ask them what the best course of action is. Depending on what other conditions you have and what the medication is, they may advise you to wait, or they might want you to go in now. They can best advise you on this.

@noiamnot- Excellent question. It's something that I have asked myself too. I say yes. You can not neglect your own health. I am planning to call the lab and see how they are handling a lot of people and that you are in a high-risk group. Does this make sense?

I would call the doctor who ordered the test. If it is absolutely necessary, can they take your sample in their office. Also the California Dental Association had advised all dentist to suspend all routine services.

@noiamnot, I have an appt in June at Mayo for a long day of tests. I am in a wait and see mode right now as to whether or not I will keep the appt. It will depend of course on the virus.
