Best early diagnosis

Posted by samakyl2 @samakyl2, Mar 3, 2020

Hey all i am 28female. Diabetes runs in my maternal family and i got diagnosed with type 2 two months ago because of unintended weight loss. I am start having some stomach and back issues from last month. I have been to ER 5 times in feb 2020. All blood test including ca 19.9 is normal. Forced my gp to write me ct scan and scan is clear as well. But i am still struggling with stomach issues. Am i overreacting?
One thing i would like to mention my husband was hospitalized with Idiopathic acute pancreatitis in jan 2020. Do you think it is cause of my worries or should i push for more scans?

Hi @samakyl2, you are clearly concerned and something isn't right. It is quite possible that stress is adding to your symptoms or perhaps even the root cause of your symptoms. It is incredible how many physical symptoms stress, worry and anxiety can cause. Personally (and I'm not a doctor), I think you shouldn't run to get more scans. In this case, more isn't necessarily better. Stomach and back issues are common symptoms of many different conditions or ailments. I wouldn't leap to something as grave as pancreatic cancer or pancreatitis. You probably have that on your mind because of your husband's experience.

I might suggest a thorough consultation with your PCP to review your symptoms and discuss next steps. Depending on the result of the blood tests, ask which specialists you might see.
Sam, do you have a PCP you trust and can work with you?
