Anyone else currently in an IVF round or in TWW?

I’d love to commiserate and share all of the things we WANT to google but won’t let ourselves! I’ll go first: “success rates of grade b embryos”
I won’t let myself do it and I’m trying to stay positive! I keep telling myself “B’s make babies!”

My experience with Lupron seems to be very different from what I am seeing here for the most part. I was on Lupron for years off and on as a form of suppression for endometriosis. The side effects were horrible.... hot flashes (menopause in college as a 21 year old is NO FUN), irritability, break through bleeding. I now experience some joint pain in my knees. I know that the Lupron they use during the IVF process isn’t exactly the same dosage etc so I am sure things would be different but for long term use I am not a fan. When your back is up against the wall you do what you need to do tho!

Amen! You do what ya gotta do!

The worst part of lupron was probably the injection piece because let’s face it, injections just suck all around. ;). I think menopur is by far the worst out of the bunch.....in the muscle stinging feeling yeah.....that one was the worst for me.

I thought the Lupron was ok. The progesterone in the hips for 11 weeks got difficult but so, so worth it.

Thank you for the insight on your Lupron experiences! I start those shots a week from tomorrow. I am mainly trying to prepare my husband for the emotional mess I am bound to become. I have prepped him to make sure he gives me support when I start acting weepy or like an emotional teen.

When it comes to the intramuscular shots, do you ladies have any tips on making them less painful? Do you ice your thigh before and/or after? Or is heat better in your experience? Do you go for walks afterwards? Thanks in advance for the advice!

I’ve never done thigh but I’ve done many progesterone shots in butt/hip area. Do NOT ice. Depending on which side you are doing, take the weight off that side so it relaxes the muscle (so when it’s on my right side I put all my weight on my left foot). After the shot is done, use warm wet heat (like a wet washcloth) or a rice bag. I’m at the point where I don’t do that but I run the area vigorously for a few minutes because the spots get lumpy after awhile.

I just get up and get moving! Movement always seems to help me....that and a chocolate reward is always a nice incentive.😂. Seriously, I got a little piece of chocolate after my shots. My hubby is sweet. Side note: make sure the alcohol dries on you before the injection. My hubs forgot to make sure one time and that was a new kind of hurt. Seems common sense but man ouch! I still haven’t let him live that one down.

Do not ice. I did the triggers myself in the thighs. Best thing for me was to do some deep breathing and relax as much as possible. I didn’t think my husband could handle the shots but he did great. 11 weeks of the progesterone they won’t let you do those yourself. So if you have someone let them try. Those progesterone shot are what we are all hoping for so get ready ahead of time. Best of luck!!

Progesterone shots: agree with everyone else above: no ice (due to progesterone being in oil, can interfere with absorption), heat a few minutes after, activity and if hubby is superrrrrrr nice, I always had a small massage after.

Lupron SQ injections were quite easy and painless. The side effects are another deal. @loren12 now that you mention all those wonderful lupron side effects -> YES. I had breakthrough bleeding about the second month in and lasted for almost two months. Hot Flashes? Absolutely! I dressed in layers. Also I also always felt hot. I remember walking outside to take out the trash in typical Minnesota winter with shorts and a t-shirt. Hubby thought I was nuts while I thought the coldness 'felt nice'.

Menpur (or whatever one was in the pen): SUCKED. Those burned no matter what interventions I tried. I basically had to just lay on the couch and distract myself with netflix and hubs would push super slow.
