Mako Robotic Arm TKR Day One

Posted by saeternes @saeternes, Nov 26, 2019

It's been about six hours since my surgery was completed, with spinal and heavy sedatives., Of course no.pain or memory of anything during surgery. I would say deep dull pain as spinal is wearing off which is diminishing as they figure out the drug dose. I just walked 50 ft with a walker and was able to use toilet. Unfortunately severe wind and snow in area so may not be able to drive over passes tomorrow which may lead to extra night. More tomorrow if possible.

@saeternes, Congratulations on hanging in there and including us in your return to the world from sedation. Tomorrow you will be more mobile and hopefully without too much pain. May you be free of suffering. Chris

@saeternes: great to hear that surgery went smoothly. Don’t fight an extra night in the hospital - 24 hours after surgery I felt great, was collecting my belongings, sitting down to sign the discharge papers, and passed out. Had something called a vasovagal thing, where blood pressure suddenly drops precipitously. They kept me an extra night for monitoring, and it turned out to be a blessing. That 2nd night was excruciatingly painful, and without good pain management at hand it would not have been fun at home. I got out 48 hours after surgery, just 4 hours or so ahead of whatever hurricane came through in September ‘18. No worries, I’m inland, but still tornado watches etc.
Continued best wishes!

@saeternes It sounds as if your surgery went well, that's great, and such a relief to have it over with. Looking forward to hearing how you are doing now. I hope all is well and you are making progress.

Hi @contentandwell I have posted more info under a new post with the same title except "Day Two." I should have started with surgery at Day Zero but instead I started that at One. One interesting thing is that I am having no problem sleeping like so many people do. I hope that lasts!
