Has anyone had experience (good or bad) with a PEMF pillows? I am considering purchasing one but not certain that it will provide value.

Hi @jameshut -- Welcome to Connect. I have no experience using one so am hoping some members following Sleep Health will be able to share their experience with PEMF pillows. I did find a site that talks about the topic and may give you some information that is helpful.

Are you looking at purchasing a specific PEMF pillow to help with your sleep? Also, have you ever had a sleep study test?

Hi, @jameshut - I wanted to add my welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect and the Sleep Health group. Glad to see you've connected with @johnbishop.

If I understand correctly, you are looking at potentially using a PEMF (Pulsed Magnetic Field Therapy) pillow to help with sleep. Are you looking to relieve insomnia, or another sleep-related issue?

Hi Lisa and John, I dont have a serious sleep-related issue, although I have noticed in recent years (now age 59) I tend to waken early between 4 and 5am and sometimes have difficulty falling asleep but I think that's not uncommon for those my age. My interest in the PEMF pillow stems from an exhibit I saw at a health and wellness show, where a dealer was espousing the benefits of the PEMF pillows and mats. Also, I am aware that the medical community is using electromagnetic treatments to treat mild depression, so I figure that the PEMF may have other positive benefits, although I do not personally suffer from depression. If the PEMF pillow has the benefits that the salesman is claiming it does, in terms of helping provide good long restful sleep, then they should be selling like hotcakes, and they may well be. I just wanted to check in with professionals to see if these claims are legitimate.

Hi @jameshut, Have you tried using the Google Scholar search engine (https://scholar.google.com/)? It is pretty good at finding research type articles. I did a search using the phrase "pemf pillows". Here is the link to the search results:

@johnbishop @jameshut I was just looking at information regarding PEMF for use on horses. My horse's vet used an electromagnetic blanket on him and I was looking up information and found this study. Here is the link:
