I am a transplant recipient at Mayo, and I have received the new shingles vaccine.
I asked my transplant coordinator about it at the beginning of my annual check-up in 2018. She checked with the infectious disease specialist in the transplant department. He said it was okay for me to have it..

I firmly believe that we always need to check with our own doctor, because it is never a one-size-fits-all situation.

@rosemarya I sure hope that MGH will approve it soon, I worry about shingles, I have heard it's extremely uncomfortable. My husband had it one time when our kids were young, and they caught chicken pox from him having it!
