Do you find any Trying-to-Conceive Resources that were useful?

Just curious... What resources have people found useful during this journey?

Blogs, books, podcasts, websites - anything you would advise?

I struggled to find resources that seemed reliable. I sometimes found the more I looked for the more stressed I got simply because I didn’t know if what I was reading/listening to was something I should really depend on. There was one podcast someone told me about which I listened to some. It is called Beat Infertility. I found I needed to be really aware of how listening to these podcasts was affecting me. It is easy to get sucked into other’s scenarios which you have to remind yourself are not the same for everyone. I also did not always agree with things being said so I needed to remember to just step away from it sometimes. Otherwise, I truthfully just stuck to the office because I lacked knowledge of where else to go. I hope that helps even a bit!

I started listening to a couple podcasts about infertility (BFN; it’s British and I love all things British, and Infertile Mafia). But I found it gave me anxiety to hear about everyone’s infertility horror stories so I went back to my true crime podcasts that just give me anxiety about...everything else hahaha!
For me, so much in my life for so long has revolves around infertility so I’m truly sick of it. I also am really trying not to get sucked-in to all of the superstitions and literature out there that makes it seem like we all have a one-size fits all “cure.” I feel they are just another reason to place blame on people for their infertility, and also make money off of people who will literally take second-mortgages on their homes to get a baby.
So for me, I like to actually get lost in a book that isn’t about this, listen to stuff not about this, and just trust the docs at Mayo to know their research-based procedures and meds about this so I don’t have to. That being said, I’ve also spent years on the internet reading about everything I could get my hands on. So I’ve made my list of questions for the docs but otherwise, I’m super over it! Ha.

@minnesotamrsa I completely agree with you! Sometimes it is not just good but NECESSARY to dive into something completely unrelated to what you are dealing with. It is very easy, I found, to get sucked in and there has to be a line where you just say “enough!” For me, I have really felt safe and well taken care of by Dr. Kahn and his team and I have needed to remind myself that I am trusting them to do what they are so good at and I can’t drive myself nuts also panicking all the time. Often, that is much easier said than done!

Ok so I ordered the movie “Making Babies” from Amazon (I could’ve just rented it but I wanted to give it to friends to watch!) and it is super funny! Of course I also cried but the scene about her Clomid side-effects had both of us cry-laughing and snorting! Highly recommend to those going through this garbage. Try not to wince too much at the medical inaccuracy and outlandish parts (drove my husband nuts lol) but it IS a movie!

Hi @daphnev, Whether it is safe to conceive is a question that only a medical professional could answer for you. Are you working with a fertility expert?
