Want to hear from others who have Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)

Posted by anet @anet, Oct 21, 2019

My husband who is 75 is in stage 4 kidney disease according to his gfr. His last Gfr was 27. That sounds terrible to me, but his nephrologist says he is stable. He is not diabetic. His creatinine is 3.2, albumin 4.1. Phosphorus, sodium, calcium, potassium are all normal. His blood pressure is controlled by medication. He exercises by walking one and a half miles every day. He has two heart stents and takes cholesterol medicine. He has shortness of breath on occasion, but still does all of his normal activities like light yard work, fishing, dining out, going to church activities. I do think he sits too much, but try not to nag. He is not good about eating healthy, but is getting better. Maybe I am just worrying too much. Would like to hear from others in this stage of kidney disease.

Just curious, how can you be sure the supplements are actually changing your kidney function and not just tricking the test into producing a false reading? Many supplement can alter test results dramatically. Vitamin C supplements sometimes produce false positives for blood in stool and Biotin can mask troponin levels in heart attack patients. It be great if there were a supplement that truly regenerated damaged kidney tissue. What ingredients do you think are helping?

I don’t know how or why it works, but it sure changed our eGFR numbers. I have been taking it for four weeks when I had blood work done by my nephrologist. I watch my diet very carefully, so it may be a combination of both things. But I will continue to take this supplement forever.

I have also been checking my urine with test strips which measure kidney function. I have seen improvements in that too.

Jane, thanks for the information. I'll check it out. Not really big on supplements but worth a look and happy that you are reporting good results. I know each of us is different but appreciate the name and location.

Great news on your GFR improvement, Jane! Can you or Bill re-mention the supplement he must have posted at some other time? Also Stage 3 and wondering if this supplement could be ordered or boost my #s too?

I am also eating a bowl of blueberries nightly and taking anti-inflammatory supplements and drinking a 5050 mix of brown and green tea. Also taking RESVERATROL, 100 MG.

I have been taking the supplement that you recommended and at first, all my kidney numbers were bad - off the charts. It has now been 12 days since I started to take them and all my numbers are normal except my microalbumin which is very high. Everything else looks great. I will get my blood work done again in two weeks. I hope that my eGFR has improved too. Than you Bill for telling me about this kidney cleanse. You’re a life saver.

I am excited for you. I have been on the 1st color on creatinine test strips now for more than a month. I gave no idea where I am at my GFR rate but I'm hopeful because before this I was at the last color (high creatinine) always. I wonder if any others have tried this similar regimen and experienced improvement?

Well, good point! However I did get lab results from my doctor putting me back to my 2013 or so results. I went from flirting with level 5 failure back to level 3. I'm urinating better and only get up once per night versus 3 times. I suspect my kidneys are clearing much more urine faster. I'll post more after my next appointment.
