Bristly sensation

Posted by glasgow46 @glasgow46, Aug 19, 2019

I had total knee replacement 11 months ago. I experience tight band and fullness in knee quite often, and also feel like I have prickly brush bristles in my knee cap area. Anyone else had ‘‘tis sensation?

That bristly feeling is nerve pain from healing. Nerves that a long time to quiet down. I have that on both TKRs, worse on one knee. At night, even the sheet touching it can set it off.

Thanks very much for your response. Surgeon said he had never heard of it, so I’m happy to hear I’m not alone😊

@glasgow46, did you surgeon recommend anything for this sensation? Is there anything in particular that sets it off?

No, surgeon said he hadn’t heard of that happening and couldn’t see any reason for it. I usually experience it after exercise on recumbent bike, or if I’ve been standing a long time. I massage area which helps a bit. It’s not devastating, but I at first worried that I had something left in site of surgery. Now it’s more annoying than anything else.
