HI, @trellg132 - sorry to hear your stuffiness in one side of your nose has not gotten any better.

I thought I'd bring in some other members who have talked about nasal stuffiness/nasal flushes/sinus issues to see if they might have any thoughts for you, like @windwalker @ling123 @heathert @pamelacelia @becsbuddy to see if they have any input on dealing with a general stuffy nose.

Do you have any thoughts on what might have prompted one side of your nose to be all stopped up for a number of days, trellg132, like allergies, cold, sinus infection, other? Can you breathe out of that side of your nose at all?

I have turbinates in one of my nostrils that basically closes off most of my breathing on that side but then somehow runs like mad. A friend of mine is getting hers reduced for the same reason. If you look up your nostril with a small flash light you may see them swollen to the point it almost closes the airway. You may want to see if it's this.

@trellg132 Good afternoon and welcome to MayoClinicConnect. @lisalucier asked me come into the conversation, so here I am! Your stuffy nose has been going on since mid July or earlier? Anything new in your environment—dogs, cats, construction in your area, pollen? Does this happen often? Have you had a fever? Or facial pain? Any change in medications? Couple of things I have learned: 1. don’t use force to blow your nose (this can force mucus into the sinus and maybe cause an infection), 2. bend over a sink filled with hot water, cover you head with a towel and take some deep breaths thru your nose (it’s like a mini-sauna), 3. use a saline nasal spray (it’s salt water, but sterile) at the drug store. No prescription needed. Use it 2-3 times a day in both nostrils. This helps to cleanse the nostrils and helps the tissue from drying out, 4. Drink plenty of water. You may also have post-nasal discharge and that’s why your throat hurts. See if the salt water spray helps and *call you doctor IF you get a fever, facial pain over the cheekbones, the mucus changes color to tan, brown or green.
Please try these suggestions. They’ve worked for me! Please keep in touch and let me know how everything goes.

Mine comes and goes also. Sometimes it swells up and is red and painful and right now it's excellent.
