More thyroid issues??? ( hypo to hyper)

Posted by mcmurf2 @mcmurf2, Jul 15, 2019

I posted several months ago with my labs and symptoms and history. Today, I got another epidural in my neck. When they checked my BP, it was low.. all 3 readings. ( now, I"ve tried to get into my health portal for that hospital and it is being a butt.. won't let me in to get you the exact numbers), But they were in the 96??/ 60?? range. It has never been this low. Also,, I"ve lost 43 lbs since last fall. NOT trying. I can't do anything but sit around due to my neck issue so it is not like I"m working it off.... starting to get a red flag. I also sweat a lot.. granted,, it IS hot and humid now,, but I can lay butt naked in front of the AC and sweat. I also take a lot of showers. ( and my feet are cold). Had to move my primary dr appt from this Thursday to next week. Don't see the endo for my follow up for another 2 weeks... should I be concerned??? Also get headaches but think this is due to my neck.. they stay for 4-5 days... meds don't help.

As someone who experienced a husband in Hospice, yes, you should be concerned. I know enough to realize you are wasting away. The sweating is the result of your body metabolizing your stored fat. I would see a doctor immediately. Are you eating much at all? I don't know much about thyroid except that I had cancerous nodules and had it removed. The Endo keeps my Synthroid numbers low to prevent more cancer. I have little energy, but I do O.K. Dorisena

hi! no,, no real appetite... I force myself to eat protein.. love fruit.. but ya know how fast that goes thru ya..ha Nothing sounds good.. it took me 1/2 hour to eat a small bowl of ice cream last week..sigh..ha. I do have a nodule on my thyroid,, diagnosed about 3 years ago.. but when my 'hyper' symptoms started last fall,, went to endo and she didn't seem concerned.. it isn't getting checked again till Aug. Would like more info on my sweating issue eating away on my fat??....

Question: Is the nodule cancerous? Since you asked, I will say what I saw with my husband, but I really don't want to bring it up. He was dying and your symptoms are what he went through during the six weeks he was in Hospice from his cancer. He also had untreated diabetes and an eating disorder.
My daughter's father-in-law had cancer and lost 40 pounds while his doctor was "just watching it". They couldn't save him by the time he finally was hospitalized. He was only 55 and had colon cancer which has a high success rate with surgery these days. I suggest you get moving on the thyroid nodule and find out more. I survived breast cancer because it was stage one and I ate so well. The first doctor misdiagnosed me. Dorisena

well,, they tell me it isn't cancerous.. it was only ultra sounded.. but I would think a blood test would show cancer..??? and yes.. I was told a few months ago after i was seen in the ER,, ( ended up being thyroid issues), ,, to just wait it out until the thyroid medicine got out of my body.. ( was taken off synthroid.)

I don't know enough to suggest anything. I had an ultrasound and then went right to the surgeon and had the surgery. I had multiple nodules and they said I had them for a long time. My vocal chord was damaged during surgery, which is common and I can't sing much and don't speak well, but I never shut up. A year later they put me on a certain diet, took away the Synthroid for a month, and did some tests with a big machine, and said I was free of cancer anywhere. But I am expecting cancer again before I die. That is why I eat so well and study what I can find to read. Please call and annoy the doctors until you get in for more evaluation. Dorisena

It's my son's turn for cancer. His brother had prostate removed a couple of years ago. No. 1 son had his prostate removed this spring and they didn't get it all. Now he is scheduled for The James at Ohio State University which has a fabulous reputation for good results. Their father died of cancer after refusing surgery for his prostate, had radiation, did not stay on the program, ate like a pig, and ended up with a tumor wrapped around his spine. My son will do everything the cancer experts recommend. He knows a lot about the medical world having been a volunteer paramedic in his younger days. Dorisena

ok,, update: I've had 2 doctors blow this theory off,, so now waiting for a pelvic ultrasound result ( will CALL tomorrow) been 5 days......sigh.

anyway. I wrote Mayo here on the site, they came back with Stumii ovary. ya.. look it up.. another rarity.. that is me!!!!!!!!!!! but it all fits.

1. Thyroid going from hypo to hyper.. labs are off the wall.
2. Growth on my uterus ( not all these stumii's are on the ovary). ( had it for 3 years now.. dr thought is was a fibroid last time.
3. The wt loss
4. nodule on thyroid
5. monocytes very elevated , along with the D-dimer ( which I"m told is no big deal if elevated). it is at 4.4

Sigh,,, after I see the endo next month, and my primary this tue,,, if I don't get any answers.. I"m going somewhere else , to someone that can put all this together....

will let you know..
