ketamine infusion and topamax??

Posted by notborntoburn @notborntoburn, May 1, 2019

Hello I began my weekly infusions last week,no pain change but I kept wondering what role the the topamax was playing because when i started increasing the dose I started getting horrible shooting pains and non stop stinging feet pains which made laying for the five hour infusions very painful. I feel like I am fighting against myself at my own expense even though the same neuro dr. is ordering this approach. It just does't make sense I already have too much pain I can't take anymore! So I am titrating the dose back down and sent a note my dr.
I need magic shoes that have little air conditioners and of course are cute!!

Hi @notborntoburn, did your neurologist that prescribed the topamax tell you how the drug is supposed to help you and why it was prescribed?

Here's some information that may be helpful from the U.S. Library of National Medicine.

Air conditioned shoes! What a great idea! I have never had Topiramax as treatment.. and I hate that it's causing you more pain. . We are all in this together and all searching for answers.. I am trying out something that my first visit to a Diabetic Nutritionist gave me for the hot burning feet pain.. You might consider giving it a try.. I am posting my experiences daily on Connect while seeing if it helps my Erythromelalgia and Neuropathic pain.. it's an experiment so far.. and available from Walmart, Amazon, and even Ebay.. cost is about $20 Brand name is "Frankincense and Myrrh NEUROPATHIC" ..

Hi
The Dr wanted me to try the topamax as a way to "re route" the pain path way between the nerves and burning feet, but the more I read the more I think this is not such a good idea, especially with the ketamine infusions! I want them to work so bad and these new bigger more intense nerve shockers during the infusions aren't helping my mind battle I think I made a mistake with the topamax oh if I could just turn back time! But this discussion group is helpful, hopeful and on and upward!!!
