Its not easy seeing your parents age or yourself i think. Its hard but its life.
My husbands mom n dad have been having issues too lately- his dad passed out at a poker game and his heart thing was set too high so it didnt shock him- so Ended up at hospital for observation-hes following up with cardiologist- and his mom is in a home- started in independent living- had a small stroke and uti moved to assisted in same complex was doing therapy- but never was able to get back to walking or doing enough anymore to be in assisted shes in memory care part now and its worse! She was found on floor yesterday am from bed! - im daughter in law so gotta stay zipped there are eight kids and the one in charge of medical lives in texas😵 she calls gets ahold of people ect but old fashioned get in peoples faces is the best and most fruitful for movement or attention to an issue i think. Ive been reading on delirium Vs. Dementia and i think she has delirium- maybe another uti
Shes swollen she has heart issues and she said she thinks she has narcolepsy now..idk its hard for me to stand on sidelines but i know i have to although i did tell them id be glad to get in faces up the food chain to get some results.
They are testing the fluid in his abdomen now to see if it is urine or something else.they are putting a drain in bigger than what he had right after operation so idk how long he’ll be in here...
- i was perusing online reading and thought it might be ascites but the nurse said no she thinks it may be a fissure or something related to post op not ongoing which hopefully is a better senario.

@formydad You sure have your hands full with both sets of parents having aging problems. I agree with @becsbuddy, you may just need to let your in-law's problems to be handled by some of their 8 offspring. You can't do everything. Hopefully some of them live closer than the one in Texas.

Yeah- im letting his family handle his parents just giving suggestions from the sidelines😉 one more of the 8 lives in seattle but the rest are nearby. which is good.
Dads settled at home with his drain and new Urostomy bag.still has dull healing pain. He also has been getting a benign-cyst .- (at least it was last scan)on his brain watched- however this past Friday he had another check up scan done and they want him to make apt to come in- he wasn't at home to set it up but geeze it better not be anything! Moms taking it easy. “For her”- gonna help her get some christmas shopping done next week. Yes dad has home nurse care that come help. And he was finally able to get some good phone #rs for who to call if he has issues next time. yes it aure is a memorable year!

@formydad, As far as a topical relief – I got some relief with Sarna anti itch lotion. It is an over the counter lotion that I used before my liver/kidney transplant.

@formydad An allergic reaction to a medication, or something topical [betadine used to clean area for surgery, surgical tape, etc.]? Have your dad let his team know about it, in case it is a medication.

Extra body fluid Draining has been an issue for my dad since his bladder removal surgery on nov 19- he had a build up of fluid that became very painful they finally got him into doc and they put a drain in for a few days in hosp and watched him as fluid drained he felt better and so they sent him home with it to monitor amount that continued to drain... well he went back to soc and they tried to just plug it to see how he would do but then it started leaking from the hole of the drain that was put in - so dad unplugged it and now its draining again into the bag.. its not slowing down though...
Has anyone experienced this? My dad says hes been searching for others who have experienced this and he has not yet found anyone.. im trying to help him find answers

@formydad Has your dad contacted his team to tell them about the modification he did? I think they would like to know. Having the setup he does may be his "new normal"?
