I was implanted with Cochlear America's Freedom implant in 2005, and upgraded to the N6 after 9 years with the Freedom processor. I'll be ready for the N7 soon. I am extremely pleased with the product, its reliability and its functionality. I enjoy music; especially music that I knew before my hearing loss progressed to the severe level. It takes a bit more work with new music, especially the heavy metal stuff that we shouldn't be exposing our ears to anyway. 🙂 I have grand kids who play in rock bands, so I do get my share of that. (They do wear musician's ear plugs...under protest at first, but immediately they discovered they could hear themselves sing when they were using them. They are now advocates.) Yesterday I had the opportunity to try the new captioning system GalaPro, at our local performing arts center for the Broadway musical "Come From Away". It was a fantastic. The PAC also has a hearing loop installed. With both the loop and GalaPro, I didn't miss a beat. I understood the words and enjoyed the music! I am so thankful to HLAA for empowering people with hearing loss to advocate for these technologies! That includes cochlear implants. My only regret about having a cochlear implant is that I didn't do it years sooner! It's life changing. Don't wait!
