depression/anxiety

Posted by brit @brit, Mar 28, 2019

I feel like I am losing my mind. Anxiety and depressing is my problem. I worry about things that are not happening all the time. Got a cscan and 4 doctors say I don't have a lesion on my liver one doctor says "coninsidently" found a lesion. I had it looked into and the other doctor said there is not lesion. What can I do next? Patti worry and anxiety

@catmom777

I have gone through periods of depression my whole life, back to when I was a little girl. I was terribly abused by my mother and thought my parents didn't want me, so I've had that to live with all my life. But, I've made it to 65 and except for afib and osteoporosis and maybe chronic bronchitis, I'm still here. I have happy times too, but with the recent diagnosis, the depression came back. And, it's pretty hard not get anxious when your heart is skipping beats and seems to be struggling to beat. I felt funny about 1/2 hour ago and took my pulse and it was acting like that. My cardiologist appointment is in two weeks. I hope he has some answers.
But thanks for thinking of me. I know I could use the support of this group. One thing that some of us struggle with is feeling awfully alone. I live alone and my family is miles away, so it gets hard when health issues crop up.
I appreciate your concern. I'll tune in later. Have a good evening.

@catmom777 I clicked on your profile and read many of your posts. You have had a tough roe to how in life, and there are many prongs to look at closely. It seems that when you are able to address your concerns with your doctor's you may be able to get some answers that will alleviate some of your anxiety. The depression that you talk of seems to have a root in past poor relationship choices and the way you/your daughter were treated. That is something that is in the past and those actions can't be changed. You can change your response to them and it's not an easy step to take but very necessary in order to help heal from it. Do you think the anxiety about your heart issues and breathing issues come from focusing too much on them and watching every little nuance. During the course of the day our heart rate can change over different things likewise our breathing can, too. I am saying this from a loving and kind point of view as these are things that I have found in my own circumstances. Be gentle on yourself. You deserve that whether you believe it truly or not just take that in and hold it in your heart.

@catmom777 Glad you are here. It can be a place of support and learning. Loneliness and depression is a hurdle some of us face daily. I would that I had a way to take this from others as well as myself. Distraction can only go so far. Add health issues and it can be even more of a challenge. I also live alone. I have family close by and it doesn't help as everyone is busy and something more added is not well received. Be kind to yourself and do what you can to take care of your health.
Again, welcome.

@gingerw By piecing things together and finding older posts I think I am now on track. Rather mostly missing in action as I endure the waiting process.

Did I miss something concerning catmom777 as I do not see her in this thread??? Mayhap I am missing something here @merpreb.. Most confused. I did learn I have a UTI which can cause confusion.
The Red Wing Blackbirds have returned and most of the snow has melted.
The view that greeted me yesterday morning.

@parus- My view is somewhat similar. I have woods in the back. They give spectacular morning welcomes!
UTI's can cause a lot of problems for older women. Earlier this year I wound up in the hospital via ambulance with a 105 temp- spiked during the night. Feel better.

Thank you. After I get this afib handled and get used to it, I am thinking about volunteering at the SPCA and maybe another organization. That will help with the isolation and make me feel like I'm contributing to society also.
This morning I'm going to a funeral for an 87 yr old Korean War hero that I did some work for years ago, before Parkinsons put him in a facility for seven years. He was brave and took his illness head on. He was an inspiration. Lived in pain from shrapnel since the war but persevered until dementia from his disease took over his mind.
Stories of resilience help me.
