I'm new to all this -- how do I keep up with posts that I replied to?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Mar 21, 2019

@sadie168 thank you for the private message and such a great question! I have been a Connect member since 2016 and I still have the same problem. I thought I would create a new discussion in the Just Want to Talk Group to answer your private message since I'm sure others may have the same question.

Here is where other members can help us out. When replying to a post or addressing a specific member in your post, make sure you tag them. How do I do that? - Easy, just use their member name with the "@" sign like I did to address this new discussion to you. When you tag a member this way, they will receive an email notification that someone has mentioned them in a post.

Another tip - use your profile. By clicking on your profile icon at the top right of the Connect window and selecting My Profile, you will see a list of all of the Groups you are following, Pages you are following and a list of all of your Posts.

Trying to figure out how to do a specific task on Connect? - Check out the Get Started on Connect guide. There is a link to this online guide in the left column of the footer on the bottom of every Connect page.

Help us out here - What helps you keep up with posts that you have replied to?

John

@johnbishop It would be so helpful if everyone knew that putting the @ in front of the name really helps. I hope more will catch on to that in time.

@john. I just had a snapish reply when I asked two people to do this. People aren't reading to guidelines. Can I borrow your reply?

@johnbishop Hey John, thanks for info but I have more questions. How do I send a private message? When I “view a reply” I see more posts than show up in my email. Why? What is the Connect window and Connect guide? Thank you ! ...... Karen

@johnbishop @merpreb You may absolutely may borrow my reply. I keep falling behind due to a lot going on these days but when I scan my email if I see posts directed to me I address those first.

@karen00- I know that you asked John this question. Here are the guidelines for almost everything that you need to know. Everyone should read this before trying to navigate around. Did I? ummm

@karen00 - Get Started on Connect guide has all of the common "How to's" with step by step instructions, including how to send a private message.

@johnbishop thank you. I still don’t see that it highlights the username. I had also checked my settings before emailing. I don’t get emails when my username is mentioned. I actually happened across this post because the title sounded familiar. 🙂 I will figure it out! Everyone is very helpful!
