With my mom, going to the hairdresser was more of a social event for her than a hair appointment! It stayed that way her entire life! I have to admit, too, I have a favorite barber and go out of my way to get to his shop đŸ™‚

I agree, @IndianaScott, our personal care people: hair stylist, barber, massage therapist, etc. become an important part of our support network and connecting with them each month or so is very comforting to many of us. We are all wired to form relationships and these are important ones.

@gingerw @georgette You both must be very special people to have others care so much about you. What a heartwarming feeling that must be.

@IndianaScott I was in the ER up here in Manchester one time and happened to mention that I had a hair appointment the next day. The doctor attending to me wanted me to see my PCP the next day so he asked what time my appointment was so he could schedule the appointment without it being in conflict! He must have understood the importance of getting your hair done, either that of my hair looked so bad he figured I really needed it!
I hate the local hospital that my PCP is affiliated with, but I have zero complaints about their ER. I was there many times prior to transplant. The doctors there were all great.
