Is it real or unreal ??!!

Why do I become tired if using other antidepressant; the chemical is THE SAME but I feel tired when moving to other brand!! My first antidepressant is unavailable in the pharmacy so I purchased the same chemical under other brand name. Yesterday I took my first dose. Now I felt headache, dizziness, negative thinking and despair!! I have already purchased the the first brand I was using, but I am still wondering and need help.

@aliali I always thought that all generics were the same but apparently that is not true. I take immunosuppressants (post liver transplant) and my doctor has instructed that I should stay with the same generic so it will react the same way. The drug store has it on my record now to fill my Rx with the brand that I have always been on. Maybe you could request which brand you were taking that you were happy with. It says the brand on the fine print on the bottle.

I didn’t know about Immunosuppressants but switching manufacturers of Anticonvulsants and changing from brand to generic and vs versa is well known for causing breakthrough seizures. In the past makers of generics were allowed to put more or less of the active ingredient which now I believe the FDA has put a stop too. But are still allowed to use whatever inert fillers which can interfere with the bio-availability of the medication.
Best of luck,
Jake

@jakedduck1 Thanks Jake, good info for anyone taking drugs regularly who uses generics. I am sure that will help @aliali to understand why she is having a problem with a different generic.

Hi JK,
Are your Platelets back to normal since your transplant?
My cousins Platelets dropped to 60,000 and now are between 60-80,000.
Did you ever meet your donors family?
Take care,
Jake

@jakedduck1 My platelets are normal now. Phew. Cirrhosis really messes with so many things. I was down around 60,000, sometimes as low as 40,000, but now they are where they should be.
I have not met my donor's family but have had communication with them and her parents were very forthcoming. I almost wish I had not had communication because knowing more about my donor has made me feel terrible that she passed away. I pray for her widower and her father every night. Her mother passed away last year so her poor father had two deaths to deal with in less than two years. Very sad.

I was thinking how hard it would be to meet or even talk.
Deaths are awful to deal with. I’m having a hard time now. My closest dearest friend had a heart attack Sunday and passed away. What makes it even more upsetting is Sunday was my birthday. I am named as her trustee. I care for my Mom and can’t leave her alone and I live 200 miles away. I feel if I don’t do all that is asked of me I am betraying her trust. I’m also now the trustee of her handicapped sons Special Needs Trust. Her niece who is willing to take on this responsibility and is a wonderful person, totally trustworthy. What to do???

@jake. I'm deeply sorry for the loss of your best friend. Sometimes we make promises that are impossible to keep. I think that this might be one of those times. If you don't want to delegate then I would take @lioness's suggestions.
Again, my condolences.

Thank you Linda & Merry. I really appreciate your kind words and suggestions. I’m not thinking very sharp right now, not that my thinking was ever anything to brag about.
Thanks again,
Jake

@jakedduck1 1st my heartfelt condolences to both you and your friend and her family. You're right, death is a difficult situation to be in and to have accepted some legal responsibilities from her to you and you to her seems to compound the emotions. Remember that even though you are your mother's caretaker, you also deserve to have some time some respite time just for you, at the very least to be the most effective caregiver you can be. As lioness said there are organizations that will offer this respite care. It seems like you might need that 200-mile trip to have closure on what has happened to your friend and also to communicate as far as being a trustee for a Special Needs Trust. It's very important that everything is taken care of and to do that in the best way sometimes you physically have to be present.
