@imallears, I've tried the canned anchovies but found the ones I bought way too salty.

As for cabbage, it has become a more frequent purchase on my grocery list and use it in many ways, both raw and cooked. Soups, sautees, slaws, are easy but I've not tried your braised recipe. Think I'll give it a try!

That’s good to know about the anchovies....will let you know when I try them and may have to rinse some of the salt off. Hope you like the braised red cabbage recipe....lovely sweetness to it. As for the snake, I only had it once...it was already smoked ((I think) and cut up so there was nothing visually upsetting about it. I have had smoked eel several times and it tasted like steakish tidbits.
Tasted raw conch once...good grief..I would have to be marooned on an island with no fire to eat that again. Fried is okay but nothing I would choose again. I never did like Bluefish so I add that to my list of don’t likes..swordfish is the other one and I wouldn’t go near tilapia...junk fish.
