What is going on with me?!?!

Posted by jt5369 @jt5369, Feb 8, 2019

Hi! I’m 37 and within the past 6-8 months I have started having anxiety. It all first started after drinking a lot of wine one night waking up next day with the worse stomach pain. In which turned into me going to urgent care feeling like I was going to pass out. From that point they sent me to er. I sent myself into full blown panic attack in which I had never had and thought I was dying. After ct scan, blood work, and ekg everything came back fine. Now several month later I have noticed having anxiety issues more and more. Now to a point where I have the tightness in my chest ,pain in my stomach like I’m dying. I have been prescribed Hydroxyzine To take on as needed basis to control that on edge feeling. I have noticed I find myself taking these more often than not. I just don’t know what’s going on. Should I be concerned?!?! I am just over feeling like this.

@jason223- I know that this is a scary time for you and I really wish that I knew more to help you. When something unexpected happens that we think threatens our life, like your initial panic attack, that can be the trigger to make you feel the same way again and again. Panic attacks can feel like you are dying. I've had them too. Medicine alone wont help. You have to be very active to stop the thinking and do things that help this. I need to ask
if you are also having suicidal thoughts? If so I urge you to seek help. I'm not suggesting that your are this upset, but if you need help with this please don't hesitate to make these calls.

You can Call Emergency Services or check yourself into the Emergency Department at your local hospital.
>> If you are in crisis, call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline https://988lifeline.org within the USA. You can live chat online at https://988lifeline.org/chat/, available 24 hours each day, 7 days each week.

I do think that there is a way to stop the thought that you are going to die, but I think that you need to reach out to a therapist who deals with anxiety. I am not a therapist, but there are many good ones out there. Perhaps the doctor who put you on your new medication can recommend someone. If you feel that you aren't being helped properly you need to seek other help.

Have your headaches subsided at all?

I would like to tag @thankful, @annedodrill44, @cdcc, @grandmarl, @aliali, @jpearo, and @wittycjt. to help Jason.

@jason223- I am very relieved to hear this. I can't predict if something will stop.Do you think that it will stop? Other than anxiety do you have any present physical illnesses that would indicate that you are seriously ill and are about to die?

No just the head pain.but the head pain has reduced a lot unlike last month.l was scared I was going to die but now that fear is gone just the worried feeling of when this thought would stop completely and how it will stop.sometimes I feel sleepy more this days.i believe it will stop I guess I'm just worried over nothing.just like the fear left on its own and the pains has reduced the thought would go too

@jason223- There you go! I know the feeling of wanting things to happen immediately but somethings do take time Jason. Keep yourself busy, exercise if you can- to get even healthier! Please let me know how you are doing! By he way, what happens every month to trigger the head pain? Do you get a shot?

Don't know what caused it at first.just started from stiff neck for couple of months constantly falling sick.that brought the fear.the stiffness stop and immediately started feeling like head was cutting from the starting to the bending of my skull that brought the fear.sometimes. My mind keeps trying to find that cutting feeling.how did you get over your panic attack?

REPLY

Do you think if I engage more in activities the thought would go?

REPLY

@jason223- I definitely think that it will help! But as I said I can not tell you if it will, absolutely.
