What is the definition of " foamy urine " ? I see bubbles after going but I thought that was always the case.

@rans Foamy urine is defined by a bubbly surface. The causes can be several. A very full bladder resulting in a heavy/forceful stream at time of release. Dehydration. Or abnormal protein leakage from kidneys. I have the third issue. Foamy urine is one of the ways I monitor my situation. Hope this helps.

You said this is one way you monitor your situation?..please explain...could it come also from eating too much protein?

@bdade59 I have chronic kidney disease, with other health issues. There is a high amount of protein spillage from my kidneys. I combine a visual monitoring with other factors like general overall feeling, energy level, any pain locations to assist me in following my condition, not relying solely on lab tests. I follow a renal disease diet, and limit the amount of protein in the diet [still get a high spillage]. No cholesterol medication for me.

I understand that there will be some bubbles even when you pour water into water so if you get bubbles how long do they stick around before you consider it foamy? Thank you for the response.

@rans I honestly cannot answer that question. Personally, I visually note what is normal for me and do not feel the need to mark time.

yes, I have seen that it is protein like egg whites and it is a sign that there is to much being dumped into the urine as waste instead of being used by the body like it should.

It does. At this point I'm watching everything, and would rather get my information from others having issues like myself.
