Switching to Trintellix or Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)

Posted by elwooodsdad @elwooodsdad, Dec 31, 2018

I have switched from duloxetine to trintillix about 21/2 months ago, and am not adjusting well. Sleep deprivation, mood swings, deeper depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. I’m to see my doctor on 1/2/19, and think switching back to duloxetine would be appropriate. Anyone else with trintillix experience?

Despite the high heat of Texas--we really have high heat in August, I've been doing well. I keep up with the posts on this site, but just haven't gotten around to replying to them. Am pretty homebound due to the high level of Corona Virus-19. However, with my four furbabies ( doggies) there is never a dull moment. Actually i have a really bad lower back and it has been troublesome. That's another story, but such is life. WIll have a CY scan as another follow up--6 months in September and a meeting the next week with my oncologist. NOt a whole lot fo write about, but I've been keeping up with you all and am so glad to hear from you. I Will try and write more often. For now, all is well and I send everyone my best and prayers for whatever your needs.

I just started on trintellix and I feel so much better with my depression and anxiety like in the first week. This is like a miracle drug for me after being so depressed and trying everything and always ending up with prozac with j was suicidal still. I am dealing with the nausea that comes for the beginning and should be subsiding. I’m also taking zofran for that. For me it is worth it when the nausea goes away after the first few weeks because I haven’t cried since the day I started and I’m showering and doing little by little. My depression becomes that debilitating and ptsd anxiety agoraphobia. I think this is the best one I’ve taken and I’ve taken them all.

Also I was wondering if taking it at night helps with the nausea?

@sunshinestacy Glad this is working for you, but would you share how long before you noticed improvement with depression and dosage? I am not fairing so well with this med because of upset stomach and nausea with no positive results.

Going straight from the Prozac to trintellix I actually felt the effect after just a few days. I do have to manage the nausea with zofran but the nausea is less every day and should go away after a few weeks. If not it will be a problem for me. I’m in the first week so I’ll keep you posted

I think I’m going off it. It’s been a week and I feel even sicker and zofran not helping. Can’t do this anymore I’m so ill. Felt better at first now feel like on my death bed.

I have started Trintellix before the holidays due to depression of upcoming holidays and losing my mother. I was perfectly fine on Celexa before. Now I started small with nausea and constipation but as of Jan 7th I am suddenly very sad and irritable. It shouldn’t feel like this. I am also not sleeping well at all. Adding to the fatigue and irritability. I meet my doctor Monday and will definitely request to go off of this stuff

It does help to take half in morning and half after dinner in order to alleviate the nausea however I found out that this created insomnia. Confirmed by my pharmacist that taking Trintellix in the evening created the sleepiness but keeps the mind working constantly. Told me to take the half in morning until I see my doctor on Monday. I finally slept better

Be sure your doctor supervises tapering off Trintillix. I had issues when I switched to it and it was very unpleasant. Came off per my physician and switched to Prozac. That was two+ years ago and all is well. All of the antidepressants need to be respected. Hoping for a good visit with your physician.
