Lung Cancer and Looking to 2019 and Beyond

Posted by Merry, Volunteer Mentor @merpreb, Dec 30, 2018

Happy New Year everyone! In a couple of days it will be a new year, new experiences and a new year of hope. I wish for peace, health and happiness for all of you.
For myself I hope for no new lesions and an answer for the cause for multifocal adenocarcinoma of the lung, and exactly what it is.
What are your hopes for 2019? What do you wish for?
Merry

Happy New Year to You too Merry! Thank you for all of your messages here.
I will go for another CT scan during the first week of the new year. Hopefully the scan will show that the chemo & radiation treatments helped.
Next up will be full brain radiation as preventative. Praying for a better New Year. 2018 has been stressful.

@lady1lake, thank you. I go for my follow-up CT scan in early February. I hope that you can keep your anxiety down to a minimum. I never can. Just thinking about it gives me the willies! 2018 was definitely a horribly stressful year. Best luck on the scan and please let me know! Have your treatments ended?

@merpreb happy new year! Hope and faith are keeping us alive. Tomorrow we will get my husband' s scan results. I' m so scared...the blood tests were good. Ah, very bad weather here with cold and rain and my husband is very sensitive to cold, he doesn' t want to go out, so very sad and lonely holidays. My heart goes to everyone who' s suffering and I hope for better days. Take care...

Thank you for asking Merry. All of my scheduled chemo/radiation treatments are finished. Now have to make an appt. with radiologist for Mayo recommendation of full brain radiation. Am praying that today’s CT scan doesn’t show any new developments.

I am just finishing up the last 2 barium drinks before going for the CT scan. Will probably not get results until Friday.

I also appreciated the mentioning of Lung Cancer; as I just learned that the property in which I currently reside, is over a Waste site/dump! My friend also confided in myself and told me many Women living in the Townhouses on our property have Breast Cancer! My Asthma has been so exacerbated by the construction on our property, which is being upgraded, that my new Pulmonologist added a Nebulizer to my medications! I am personally furious with my Management Company; as they have been lying to us as Residents, don't care about our living conditions until things are of an urgent matter, etcetera!
I can't wait to move out of this Complex!

2019 is off to an excellent start! My CT scan results were good. The small tumor is stabalized at its half shrinkage size shown on the prior scan done 2 1/2 months ago. There were no metatasic signs in any other areas. Thank God. I have an appt. with my radiologist next week to discuss brain radiation. Am doing research to decide whether or not to go forward with that plan. Just feeling like I need some time off without any more therapies. But, since small cell lung cancer is very aggressive it is a worrisome decision.
