COPD: Should CT scans be done along with x-rays?

Posted by irenec @irenec, Nov 17, 2018

Many take CTscan. Is this something that should be done along with xrays. Neither my GP or Pulmonalist have ordered one. It was last done 14 years ago.

Joan- I strongly suggest that you call the vet and complain and get a new doctor. I don't think that you are getting the medical help that you need. What is your diagnosis? I also suggest that if you are in any distress go to the ER for help. Then on Monday make your calls. Please let us know how you make out.

Hi Wayne- oopps! You are a vet. Thank you for your service. I know the VET can be very tough when it comes to medical problems. My step son was badly injured in Desert Storm. Do you have any control over the doctors you see?

Wayne- I believe that it is a new inhaler that combines three different drugs. I don't know enough about medicines in inhalers to advise you. You will have to ask a professional. I have three inhalers. One opens up my passage ways and I also use it as a rescue inhaler. Another one is a steroid and another one is specific I think to smoking, Spiriva. Most people with COPD need three inhalers to handle different parts of the lungs.

As I said earlier, you need to be treated better and I would call as soon as they are open for another physician. Can you do this on Monday? Are they open today?

yes- I do not think much of the nurse practitioner, they assigned me so far, she never contacts me, and she knows I have copd and has not gotten me a appointment with a pulmonologist in about a year.
