Cystoscopy

I'm bringing in a few other members who may have experience with cystoscopy issues and alternative ways to examine the bladder, like @predictable, and @helenofnc.

Kblakeave, did you already have an ultrasound of the bladder? Were they able to do the cystoscopy by increasing the catheter size gradually?

Hello @kblakeave. @colleenyoung asked me to look into this discussion with you about cystoscopy for your bladder. Like you, I had prostate surgery, but it removed only excess tissue that was blocking urination. However, that tissue was concealing a small tumor in the lining of my bladder. The tumor was removed with a transurethral tool (like a cystoscope) and was diagnosed as moderately malignant. As a result of that diagnosis, another cystoscope exam was administered after a couple of weeks. This time, a dozen more of those small tumors were located, and shortly they were removed with that same transurethral tool. Since then (now 8 years ago) I have had cystoscope exams of my bladder regularly -- and without any further evidence of any malignancies.

I say all that in hope that you'll perceive a level of confidence that urologists are really good at what they do with prostate and bladder incursions. But I can't answer your question and won't attempt to. The origin of the scar tissue is known only to you and your urologist, and that information -- along with the nature of your bladder problem -- would be pivotal in any treatment or remediation plan. Have you considered any of several procedures (other than cystoscopy) for examining your bladder problem? Martin
