Started taking Prozac 20mg with Remeron 7.5mg anyone else??

Hi,
I just got weaned off Trintellix 10mg, and started taking Prozac 20mg and Remeron 7.5mg(only at bedtime). I just started, so too soon to tell, but I feel a little calmer, not as anxious. I have suffered Anxiety, and recently depression out of no where. Is anyone on this combination? Thanks..

Hello I just started the SSRI Celexa yesterday. I took Prozac many years ago when it first came out. I hear Remeron is helpful for sleeping and may have to ask my doctor for it eventually. But even though it’s not the exact same medication we are both newbies on these particular SSRI medications. I have high hopes for mine I’ve been suffering terribly from depression and panic. I think I may feel a little calmer as well on the second day of Celexa.

Hi,
I took a DNA test to see what meds would be good and not good and Celexa unfortunately is in the not good category! I needed a more calming antidepressant than Trintellix. That was more stimulating. Yes the remeron definitely helps me sleep, that’s why it is prescribed at night. I do feel more mellow in the past 3 days than I have felt in the past 3 months! I am hopeful as well!!

It’s funny how different we all are. I’ve never had the DNA test but just after some research decided on Celexa. I think right now Prozac would be too stimulating for me but again everyone is so different. I’m tapering off a benzodiazepine (heck in a hand basket!) which is behind many of my symptoms. Please keep me up to date with the sleep on the Remeron I very well may need it. Glad you’re experiencing some relief.

I felt very unsettled on Citalopram (generic Celexa) at first. My doctor started me at 40 mg, which was too much for me. I cut the pill in half and still felt weird for about 2 weeks. I got the true effect after about 4 weeks. I continued to take 20 mg for 6 months and felt very good. At that time my doctor prescribed the full 40 mg. I didn't really feel any better at 40 mg, but I take it anyway. I feel like it saved my life and gave me the freedom to really live finally. No more unfounded fears and panic attacks. I'm happy.

Wonderful to hear! Because of my benzo taper the lowest dose antidepressant to start is needed to avoid stimulation. I’d do anything to get rid of the panic attacks I’m experiencing from tapering plus I think Valium causes (although they all do I suppose) depression. I’ve not taken an SSRI medication in many years but things got so rough I really need it. Great to hear Celexa has worked for you. I feel a little bit strange—tomorrow will be day 3–but certainly an improvement already from where I was!
