Undiagnosed, any ideas?

Posted by samigrace08 @samigrace08, Oct 8, 2018

Hi everyone! I was diagnosed with juvenile oligoarticular arthritis when I was 3 but since the age of 13 I’ve been getting very light headed and dizzy, along with night sweats, and blood in urine. I’ve also had posterior scleritis and uveitis and severe episodic joint pain without any swelling. If anyone has any suggestions of what this could possibly be, please let me know! I’m 18 now and the “flare ups” are getting more and more frequent. Thank you

Hello @samigrace08, welcome to Connect. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate which are difficult to deal with. I have no medical background or medical training but I'm pretty sure blood in the urine is pretty serious and would recommend that you see a doctor as soon as possible. I'm tagging @kanaazpereira to see if she might have some suggestions.

Here is some information that Mayo Clinic has concerning blood in the urine:

Blood in urine (hematuria)

I also found some information that may be helpful on the The Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Foundation's website:

@samigrace08 are you currently seeing a doctor for any of your symptoms?

Hi @samigrace08,

I’m tagging Connect moderator @JustinMcClanahan to see if he might be able to connect you with others with regard to oligoarticular juvenile arthritis — also known as oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) or oligoarthritis.

Oligoarticular JIA causes arthritis in four or fewer joints, typically the large ones (knees, ankles, elbows). Children with oligoarthritis are more likely to get uveitis (chronic eye inflammation) than those with the other subtypes. Children with a positive test for antinuclear antibody (ANA) are at greatest risk of developing eye inflammation and will need to see an eye doctor frequently. https://www.arthritis.org/about-arthritis/types/juvenile-idiopathic-arthritis-jia/what-is-juvenile-idiopathic-arthritis.php

I’m also tagging @jamienolson, moderator for the Eye Conditions group on Connect, and @wottone who has written about scleritis in another conversation.

Although this is an older discussion, I’d encourage you to view it – I hope @uvea10 @bryan will return with some more information and updates.

@samigrace08, have you consulted a rheumatologist? I do agree with @johnbishop, that you should address the blood in your urine symptom sooner. How are you coping with the eye conditions?
