~ Hello ~

Since I don't seem to have responses any longer to another group I was in, I thought I'd visit with you. I moved 3+ years ago from a place I lived for 30 years to be closer to my 2 daughters. I dislike it intensely. But, it is what it is, and life goes on ..... I'm 73 and looking for a job, for extra $ and also to get out for a few days a week. I had a knee replacement, and then a revision (they redid it); otherwise I'm in good health. So these are the "golden years" ..... hmmmmm, An interesting way to put it.

@abby.... You say you moved near your daughters? I moved near my son. Worst move I ever made. Nevermind I gave up an oceanfront home in Oregon. I have learned that I must live my own life. I love my children but they are not children any longer. The youngest is 36 the oldest 53. I am 76. So, I am packing up and moving to Idaho. Yes I will still be within the range of one daughter. I am moving into a Retirement community. My peers will be some close to my age and some older. I have got to start playing with kids my own age.

@ amberpep Good to see you back. Gold is a soft metal so maybe there is some kind of similarity there even though I think it has something more to do with it being valuable.

CONGRATULATIONS Texas .... I wish I could do that. I admire you for stepping out and taking your life back. I'd LOVE to go back to where I lived. My concern is that my girls really love having me down here .... that's nice and I appreciate their love, but what about my life? and the things and places I enjoy? You really give me the itch to move. One problem I do have is I live in a low income apartment and I don't know what might be available in Frederick, MD in that range. I think tomorrow I'll call their Department of Aging and see what I can find out. Thank you, thank you, for the push I needed. One other thing I forgot to mention is that my X lives only 20 miles from here.

Hi again friends ..... part of what I didn't mention was that when I was in MD I had my own condo for 12 years, I was divorced after a 40 year marriage, and my girls kept begging me to move down here. I should not have moved!! Big mistake!! I hate it here, and to add to that my X lives only about 18 miles south of here, and I just found out he has a girlfriend that all 3 of my kids have met but didn't tell me til one accidentally mentioned it yesterday. That shouldn't bother me, but it does ..... I've always felt thrown away - he is a Narcissist - and he would do nothing in counseling to help our situation. If my 3 kids have met her, then she's more than just an "occasional date." Oh Lord I wish I was back home in MD.

@amberpep I hope you will at least look in to what would be available/How feasible it would be to move back. Then you have a clearer perspective what direction to go. Don't leave any stone unturned to figure what the possibilities may be out there for you. Hate to say this, but are your daughters there happy to have you because you can help caretake the grands? Do they realize how unhappy you are, and are they willing to help change that?
