Post colorectal cancer pet scan showing spot on liver

Posted by minabird @minabird, Jun 12, 2018

I am 6 months post colorectal cancer surgery. I had my follow up PET scan and there is an area showing on my
Liver. I had the same thing prior to my surgery and an MRI showed nothing. I am having another MRI next week. I am concerned that this continues to appear on the PET. Has anyone else had this happen?

@minabird I'm sorry you have to deal with this. But remember early detection is always the best cure. That is great though that the Dr's are doing everything ASAP. That is a good sign they can get you in right away.
Do you mind sharing what the Oncoligist suggests?
Will be Praying for you sweetie. I think everythng will workout good for you. Stay busy doing things to keep your mind off this.

My husband has stage 4 colon cancer. He has had mets to his liver and to his lungs. Another option you might want to inquire about is Cyber Knife. It is NOT surgery!!! (even though it has the name knife in it). It is a VERY pinpointed radiation that can be used on the liver and the lungs (actually most organs). My husband had too many tumors in the liver to use cyber knife so he had his liver resected. (they took out half of his liver and then 6 weeks later took out almost all of the other half, because you liver grows back. He has had cyber knife on his lungs and it works GREAT!!!! Just sharing another option.

Hello Jackie,
Sorry I’ve been so long to respond. I am currently done with 4 of 12 chemo treatments. I have 1 every other week. This is considered a spread of my colon cancer. It is only one spot and very small. My oncologist has had good success with the chemotherapy I am on. I am tolerating pretty well and am continuing to work on the days I feel good. I will have another pet CT after my 6th treatment. Hope all is well with you. ~Mina

@minabird Good to hear from you. I am happy for you that they caught this early. Being able to treat early is very good. That's great the chemo is successful..
I am good just had my six month check too. I have to have another scan in 6 months one rouge lymph node grew a tiny amount. So back to 6 month scans. Ugh...Otherwise the tests were good.
I will pray the rest of your treatments go smoothly too.
You take care my friend and I will check with you again in soon..
God Bless

Hi Jackie,

I had amazing PET scan results! Nothing showing!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻After a 3 week break from chemo (and lots of labs) at my Doctor’s suggestion, I will finish out all 12 the chemo treatments per the protocol. 4 left to go, I will be finished at the end of January. How are you doing??
