Invasive EEG Monitoring

Posted by patrassi @patrassi, May 8, 2018

Good afternoon! My son after hemispherotomy in Mayo Clinic is having partial seizures eventually. His dedicated doctor ask us for a new test , called invasive monitoring. Do anybody have done this before? What is it like?

@patrassi, I can imagine how concerned you must be. I found this article that describes Invasive electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring before epilepsy surgery https://www.aboutkidshealth.ca/Article?contentid=2056&language=English

I'm tagging fellow members who have been to a monitoring unit @suellipo68 @dawn_giacabazi @amckinley75 @findanswers and @twiceinalifetime in the hopes that someone will have experience with invasive EEG monitoring to share with you.

Patrassi, when is your son schedule to have the test done?

Hi @colleenyoung
Thank you very much for your attention! I read about invasive monitoring and I am really scared about it, the link you suggested me was so helpful! We live in Brazil, so we will try once again the scalp monitoring here and then we will return to Rochester. For while we are waiting for the seizures to go to the hospital here and finish the scalp monitoring... if the results aren’t good enough for Mayo doctors, we will do the invasive monitoring in Minnesota,do it’s not scheduled yet. With best wishes Patricia
