I just came across this website and the information about Prozac. I thought some of you may be interested in this information, so I thought I should pass it on. The site is Very Well Health (www.verywell.com) and they have lots of great information for you to read.

Actually, I found all of it interesting if like me, you take Prozac for depression and anxiety.

Hi, @happyat76 - wondered what your experience overall has been like with fluoxetine hcl (Prozac)? You'd mentioned previously it seemed to help with some symptoms and not others? Is that still the case?

I'd also like to introduce you, happyat76, to some other members who have talked about taking fluoxetine hcl (Prozac) currently or previously, like @elwooodsdad @mayapapaya @jacko @amira @jacko @sylviaanne @meowrightmeow @stomprud @rmeyers1ppk @hopeful123 @dcwash @rmeyers1ppk @oprah @littlecroissant @lorraine59 @jennykl @dianrib @catcatanzaro60 @dishnc @healthytoday @stephieisabella @herbnj @rmeyers1ppk @stephieisabella @dianrib. Hoping they will share what their experiences have been for reducing symptoms and also any side effects experienced on fluoxetine hcl (Prozac).

While waiting for some of these members to join this discussion, I also wanted to share a bit of the Mayo Clinic information on this medication https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/fluoxetine-oral-route/description/drg-20063952 and this article about selecting and working with antidepressants https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/depression/in-depth/antidepressants/art-20046273.

@elwooodsdad - you said you'd just started taking fluoxetine hcl (Prozac) very recently. How's it going so far?

Since I started taking it in Nov again it has helped me so much My doc said it takes awhile to help all the way. But it will never be a med I ever get off again. I was on it since 1999 and went off last year to try Cymbalta for pain and depression. I lost my mind this past year. Doing better but can hardly go out of house still.

It is going okay. Just started Saturday, and I will take 20 mg. this morning (Tuesday). No lightheadedness and no suicidal ideation as there was on Trintillix. Insomnia continues, but I don’t believe it is the Prozac, but the after effects/half-life of the Trintillix. Slept 101/2 hours Sunday night, maybe 3-4 on Monday. Seeing the doctor Thursday.

I slept 8 hours last night. I took 1mg of Klonopin, in addition to my regular dose, and all is fine. The Prozac is working. I am not depressed. I'm just damn tired, and I am seeing the doctor tomorrow to have him address the sleep issue. The transition to Prozac has been nearly flawless, save the sleep issues, some of which I blame on the residual of Trintillix. Not by job to practice pharmacy or psychiatry, but the insomnia has been an issue. Took my wife to a movie and dinner last evening, after being up all night the night before, and taking a short nap, and I felt great. Brain chemistry is a puzzle, and I'll let those whose life's work it is to assist. Fortunately, my physician/psychiatrist is as much a friend as a doctor. Always helps to have an ally instead of an adversary.

@parus thanks I am so worried about losing everything in the meantime but I have regained my faith, and other times I just want to sign myself into the hospital. This crap is getting on my nerves. I slept the whole day Tuesday. It was gone. I have been writing the paperwork for my disability a little every night. I am not going fast enough. I am thinking about getting a lawyer. Thanks for caring though.
I hope this is a good thing. I am about ready to go off Cymbalta all the way. I am looking my another counseling place to go to again.

Per doc, I am coming off Lexapro and trying Prozac for my anxiety attacks. Has anyone had success using this med for anxiety? I do not have depression issues but I do have GAD. Any input is appreciated!
