I'm tagging @contentandwell and @rosemarya who have written about hair loss (although not specifically Alopecia Universalis) in previous posts; I wonder if they have any insights to share?

@user_ch031a490, My experience had to do with hair thinning after surgery for organ transplant. I took over-the-counter Biotin for that.
I am sorry that I have no experience with the stem cell treatment that you seek.

@kanaazpereira sorry, no insight here. I have had hair loss, presumably from an immunosuppressant, but that's all. I have also had toenail loss which I presume is also related to an immunosuppressant. That is more of a nuisance to me.

We have a few members who've experienced alopecia for a variety of reasons, and they may also have some suggestions.

Hi, I have experienced changes in hair growth; most noteably, excessive hair loss beginning in my early 20s and coinciding with the onset of one of several auto-immune disorders diagnosed over the following 30 years. I have almost no body hair. I hardly ever have to shave my legs as there are only 5 or so on each leg, same goes for under the arms. It did not used to be like this. And I can hardly complain about that! But -- most troublesome is the reoccurring cycle of all over excessive shedding of the hair on my scalp that is increasingly rapid cycling. Every 5, to 2 years now, I have to cut my hair very short to accomodate the extreme thinning. And the growth is so slow I hardly need haircuts at all! My doctors won't address it; I guess I will have to go completely bald to get any medical treatment -- VERY FRUSTRATING -- except for my optometrist who is treating my dry eyes and blephoritis and eyelash loss (auto-immune disorder) with the eye drops, Xiidra, which has helped along with diligent lid hygiene and hot packs. I also have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis which I have been treating with biologics (immuno-suppressants) for 15+ years. Stress is a major problem and though I have been learning and implementing CBT to manage stress more effectively, I have not been relieved of the excessive shedding and thinning. At what point will the hair on my scalp just stop growing back, like most of the hair on the rest of my body? My hairdresser told me of something his aunt tried: put purple onions into your favorite shampoo and let them ferment. Here in the US Southwest, here is also another "natural" folk remedy; shampoos with "yerba de la negrita". It helped me once, 25 years ago, but not since. I have not yet tried the onion . . . cannot seem to muster the faith.
