sorry for late reply. I've had these things called 'gromits' (tiny plastic rings in my ears) put in when I was about 7 or 8, but I can't remember what for, and they didn't do anything really at all. I've had many checks when I was younger including MRIs but I don't think the doctors understood what I really needed to be checked for
