No Evidence of Disease (NED)
Had my 4.5 years out cystoscopy yesterday. No evidence of disease, Praise God 🙌🙏 he will not send any pathology off this time.
I was so surprised to learn that I will have 1 more cystoscopy in November and after that I go to annual checks done through urine cytology. I'm so happy to learn that!! I thought I had to have annual cystoscopys for the rest of my life. Couldn't have been a better day with better news. Truly feeling blessed ☺️

Congratulations! How wonderful. Since I am at the beginning of this journey, 4th chemo tomorrow, May I ask what treatments did you have over the 4+ years?
Since I am already 82, I am always wondering if it is worth having treatments over extended years.
I am truly delighted to hear your bladder journey has come to an end.

4 ReactionsGood morning @hummelb99, I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis. To me it was definitely worth each and every BCG treatment I took over a 3 year period. For those of us diagnosed with high grade bladder cancer (which I was) it's something we must pay attention to for the rest of our lives. To me the 5 year mark means no more cystoscopys for now. But I know with non muscle invasive, high grade bladder cancer I am just as susceptible as anyone in our group to have it come back in an instant. I pray, I pay attention and live my life to the fullest 🙏 I think if you have a good doctor and listen to what he/she suggests, you will be fine. Always remember, you're stronger than you know and loved way more than you know. Good luck with everything and God bless 🙌 🙏 BTW, to answer your question more directly, the only treatments I had was 3 years of BCG treatments and cystoscopy checks for the bladder ❤️🩹

Thank you very much for your reply.
My pathology market showed I would respond better to chemo than BCG, however, after my initial 6 chemo treatments it remains to be seen, if they were effective- of course after the CatScan and cystoscope.
I appreciate your input, it makes me more familiar with the bladder cancer treatment possibilities.
I do have high grade bladder cancer, not yet muscle invasive and hope it won’t change.
Best of luck and I will pray your cancer will not come back ever.
Hugs and good wishes.

Good morning. As mentioned elsewhere, my pathology after TURBT, using the Vesta AI system, indicated that BCG would not work for me. I have high risk NIMBC and CIS. After 5 weeks of Gem/Doce, my cystoscopy and cytology were clear. Since then, I have had 3, four-weekly Gem/Doce instillations, and a cystoscopy last week, which was clear. I am awaiting cytology results.
The whole experience has been one of minor discomfort during instillations, plus some increased frequency, but no other discernible side-effects.
Best wishes.

4 Reactions@talltxlady Would you be so kind to detail what changes if any you made to your lifestyle during the last 4.5 years in addition to the 3 years of BCG treatments? I know we are all different, however there’s just so much stuff out there telling us moderate alcohol is ok and MD Anderson says zero amount of alcohol is safe for any cancer patient, etc,
Many thanks and you are a beacon of HOPE! TIA

1 ReactionGood morning @michzn, I'll happily tell you I didn't change a thing. If I wanted Mexican food and a margarita with friends I had it. I don't drink to excess, but if I wanted two, I'd have a second as well. Now, this usually wasn't during the 3 weeks of BCG treatments because I wouldn't feel like doing too much during that period. But once those 3 weeks passed and I felt better I carried on as usual. I always took care of myself and paid attention to my body and how I was feeling and definitely kept my doctor appointments.
You have this. You will come out on the other side of this as well. Thank you for your kind words and God bless you 🙏😊
@michzn are you in H-town and going to MD Anderson? I went to MD Anderson in the Woodlands for a short period, but then went back to my Urologist. I decided I would go back to MD Anderson IF I had a reoccurence. Praise God that has not happened 🙏✝️🙌
Happy news my you continue on the road to good health, and a long life best words spoken by a doctor.
