Hi. I’m on Zoloft and I’m finding the same issue but I don’t have a choice because I’m get severely sick off of the soooo many other one's I’ve tried. I thought I was getting dementia.
If you find an answer please share it with me. Grateful for your post.

Zoloft made me feel the same way.

Thank you for this! I am having the same issues and also on Aricept! I asked my provider if I could go off of both of them and agreed to break them in half instead of going “cold turkey” (And they were both full prescriptions so I didn’t want to waste them!) I was also on Vitamin B12 & Folic acid…which were low. Now they are both sky high and I’m cutting them down to once a week instead of daily…I feel like often providers are so busy that they don’t always look at the whole picture…and I get it, they are overworked and busy!! BUT shouldn’t they have someone review them for Red Flags!! Not everyone can be their own advocate! Healthcare cost a so high it’s ridiculous!

Zoloft is another bad medicine for me. It caused memory problems and neuropathy. It has made me sick and my muscles hurts everywhere like fire, pins and needles, dizziness, vertigo and headaches almost every day. I can’t sleep anymore because of the pain throughout my body. My psychiatrist, pcp and neurologist said the anxiety and depression medicines cannot cause these problems but I know better but it’s too late for me. The doctors just up my medicines.

Find a Dr. that will listen to you! We know our bodies better than they do. It’s horrible to feel like if they follow the protocol the same for everyone and some people just don’t respond to what the drug says it does, that we have to go through the side affects that make us miserable! There needs to be a better system!!

I have been on Zoloft for more than 30 years. I always wondered why my memory was so poor and now I finally know why! Do you think it possible that I could titrate off 50 mg and eventually go off it after all these years? I do still get anxious occasionally even on Zoloft. My brain is probably used to it after all this time but I would love my memory to improve if possible.

@karenmaria56 I'vebeen on Effexor (venlafaxine) for 25 years. Tried going off and side effects were so bad I just started. At 82 I don't feel it's worth it.

@karenmaria56 - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I wanted to let you know I moved your post here to where others were discussing issues with sertraline (Zoloft) similar to what you mentioned about it affecting your memory:

- Zoloft and memory issues https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/zoloft-and-memory-issues/

Glad to see you got some input from @healthysenior on this medication and whether you might go off due to the memory side effects you've experienced. Hoping others in this discussion such as @klh1979 @lakesofdelray @dycana and others will chime in on this, as well.

karenmaria56 - have you gotten the chance to ask your doctor about what they think about you going off of this medication? If so, what did they say, and would they have a tapering plan for you?

Thank you but my issue is meds changed after 20+ years Ativan with no titration to Xanax. Then back to Ativan after 2 weeks. Feeling worse depression anxiety and fatigue. What to do?

Hi, @lakesofdelray - you'd mentioned something about your experience with sertraline (Zoloft) in this post https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/1106475/. Do you remember how this medication went for you?

Also, if you go to the home page for the Depression and Anxiety support group https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/depression-anxiety/, put "Ativan" or any other term you'd like in the "Search discussions" box.
