I was dx in January with MAC. Although I have an ID doctor locally(Chicago) and am on 3 antibiotics, my doc is recommending I go to a center of excellence for this condition. After reading many of your
Posts, it sounds like Dr. Aksamit@ Mayo(Rochester) is an excellent pick, but I can't get in to see him! Have been calling every morning to see if there are cancelations. Any tips from you veterans?

Did your doctor call Mayo Clinic and make a referral for you?  This is usually the best way.

@mac47, The doctors at Mayo Clinic all collaborate with each other. They perform as a team to provide the kind of individual care and treatment that each patient deserves. So, from my experience, I can assure you that you can be comfortable to go ahead and make an appointment now.
