I have visited a Neurologist privately with the concerns of my Shingles being previously on my left side of my face and the outcome was it could take up to 2 years to be fully free of any pain or inflammation that I have on the top of my head and face if I still have it then it won’t ever go away.
Not good reading.

I had shingles almost a year ago. Two months later I developed postherpetic neuralgia. I have itching and burning of the right side of my face. I was put on gabapentin I took as high as 1800 mg Then I stopped I was then put on pentonby my neurologist It didn’t help either I am back on gabapentin 900 mg. I t helps a little The dermatologist couldn’t help the itch. He said it’s underneath the skin and even hydrocortisone won’t do anything. It’s worse at night. Maybe I am busy during the day so I’m not aware of how much it itches. I heard it may be there for the rest of my life. I think what you was told is more encouraging.
