Has anyone had Daily Persistent Headache after covid?

Posted by dbpavao @dbpavao, Jan 31 7:57am

My 16 year old son has had Daily Persistent Headache for over two years now along with low iron and pots. He has a headache everyday and reach migraine levels 2-4 times per week. After seeing several different doctors and trying just about every treatment possible we are no further along then we were two years ago. Just trying to find anything or anyone that might help. It has been a nightmare for me and my family.

Been a long hauler going on 6 years and I've had two types of head pain. Pressure that feels like my brain is swelling and pain and a fog where I feel like I'm not getting enough oxygen even though pulse ox numbers are good

Thank you for replying,

Yes, my son still has basically the same thing and that is how he explains it as well. He also has bouts of vertigo (although that has calmed down quite a bit) and nausea. It has now been 3-1/2 years for him now and we still have not found a cure or much relief. The typical pain meds do nothing for him. We have tried just about everything that is out there including things that have been posted on the Mayo Connect but nothing works. He does use a Nevivio device that gives him some relief. We continue to search hoping we will find something but nothing yet.

Have you found anything that helps relieve the pain?

@suefish I almost always have a headache. I don’t know whether it’s from Long Covid, nerves, tumor, whatever. I’m hoping for Long Covid. Thanks for sharing — now I don’t feel so isolated.

Yes, especially when it’s overcast outside, like this morning and my eyes are so hooded over this morning as well!

If the headache is coming on with overcast weather, you are having a barometric pressure headache. Take a look online for some ideas on treatment...I just sip on hot water with lemon, honey and a shot of cayenne to help mine.

Another thought for other headaches, I developed very strong food allergies post covid especially to nightshade vegetables, cream, cheese with mold (like blue cheese), wheat/gluten, sugar and corn. These caused extreme inflammation including joint pain and headache. I started on an antihistamine several years ago to minimize the mast cell production and early this year added on Low Dose Naltrexone. Between the two I can eat small amounts of the foods I have Long Covid induced allergies to but I can only do this every 2-3 days or I get a full set of symptoms. Doing an elimination diet will help you identify what foods cause headache, rash, joint pain, eye swelling and more.

@patsy82 For going on 5 years, I also have headaches daily, with tinitis. Between 3-10 on the pain scale, just always there. Mine is right side behind the eye, travels to the ear and behind the ear. Bad days ear to ear behind my eyes. I have had ENT assessments having nothing sinus. Right now, typing and reading causes increased pain and tinnitus. Nothing helps for me.
I hope the best for all of us.
