Calcium test before Evenity each time?

Posted by aspirecreative @aspirecreative, Nov 18 10:55am

My endo had my calcium checked just once, before my first shot. Now, I have read that other docs have calcium checked each time. Should I be asking for that to happen? I don't know what the research says or what Amgen did in their trials. Thank you.

I don't know, but they check hubby's every time.

My doc checked my calcium prior to beginning Evenity, but not during the process. My calcium has always been normal, save one time when it got a bit high, so checking every time might be preventative, which is good medicine.

Cheers!

My endocrinologist ordered a serum and 24-hour calcium before I started Evenity. A follow up 24-hour calcium was ordered after a few months because my first test was high.

My dr has ordered monthly calcium & Vit D level blood labs since I started Evenity.

I think that it’s very important to have Calcium & Vit D levels checked at least every 3 months. I have a standing order for these. I have a tendency for my Calcium to drop while on these meds Evenity , Prolia & Reclast. I have a lab in December and will see if my calcium is stable while on reclast. I know that it was prior before starting Reclast.
