What do you know about the new HRT information?

I am hearing a lot about the use of HRT for post menopausal women and that it is very helpful with women’s health overall
Your thoughts? Thank you. Carolyn

Hi, I was told, I was not a candidate. This would make me leary of any hormones that they start to sell. It's Unbelievable to me that all of a sudden out of the blue this is okay now? Very scary. IMO.

Check the women's health section of connect. Lots there.

Hi
I too am always skeptical and concerned about medications.
However if your body is missing something that you can add back to it does make some sense.
The “ scare label” about breast cancer if you take replacement HRT seems questionable as well

HRT comes in several "shapes and sizes".
I've been on it for nearly 30 years.
I am not cancer genetic receptor positive for any breast cancers so far.

I use only the estradiol patch because it by-passes the GI tract, so it is low dose.

Each woman or man needs to research and decide what is best for them as an individual.

@cbp123 it's funny, when my mom was on HRT
it helped her tremendously. But then they came out with a study, I don't know how many studies were done it was enough for them to take it off the market. Only reason she stopped taking it.

Thanks so very much for the replies. I hope what "they" are telling us about HRT can be trusted. If your body has lost an important element of your well being it does make sense to replace it. HRT does this for hormones. It is also mention that alzheimers prevention is included in the positives. Carolyn

I am 67 and just started on transdermal HRT for sudden onset of dermatitis and severe anxiety. Nothing has changed in my life that would cause such anxiety. Fortunately I came across 2 Naturopathic Doctors who understand that hormone changes don’t just stop at the medical system’s timelines. They did not hesitate at all about HRT for my condition. One of the ND’s is a women who is on HRT herself at the age of 60.
I’ve heard stories of women in their 80s suddenly developing severe anxiety out of the blue. Doctors respond with antidepressants, not with the root cause. These poor women.

Would my OBGYN be the place to ask about the right HRT treatment for me. At 81 I still have hot flashes. I am still working full time and want to continue working and feeling good but have noticed an anxiety increase … if there is another type of Dr I should contact I will Appreciate knowing. Thank you. Carolyn

Possibly endocrinologist and more likely a functional medicine provider.
