Following this discussion. I have MGUS (Monoclonal Gammopathy of Unknown Origin) and the docs think it may be a cause of my neuropathy. Have had many blood tests. Waiting on my EMG results.
I have multiple myeloma that started with MGUS & I was offered IVIG but I didn’t take advantage of it until recently. I’m now starting to get it monthly after getting it bi-monthly & I’m hopeful about the results. However, from what I’ve learned, it won’t work if you’ve had chemotherapy. There’s a lot to learn about.
@allessio77 Have they run the anti-MAG antibodies test? I am in the same boat, but my antibodies test came back normal. I have Monoclonal Gammopathy IgM-Kappa. Am scared to death to do the EMG because I had it once before on my arms and the pain was excruciating!! How was your EMG?
I have IGG MM & I haven’t had the EMG nerve test but I’ll be discussing it all with my oncologist & neurologist shortly. Gemini AI has a lot of useful information about options.
@persistentc I am waiting on the results of the anti-Mag test. Should be today. The EMG is scheduled in about a 10 days. Not looking forward to it. My partner had 2 EMG's and while they were uncomfortable, they were doable. Several variables here. The tech is important in the comfort.
I also show the IgM spike and elevated Kappa. I would love to find something to do about my neuropathy, but all I see are treatments that may be worse than the neuropathy! (Have not talked about this to the docs, only with co-pilot.)
